If it's true that Woody Johnson was the reason we took Sauce over Ekwonu, that's kind of disturbing.
Jet Nut
7 hours ago, JoeNamathsFurCoat said: the idiotic part is allowing your starting QB to dictate who the GM must sign. Given the Jets went down to the wire trying to sign him, how does that tell us AR wouldn’t let the Jets sign him?
Sperm Edwards
Fun WR facts about the Baltimore Ravens, who've generally been the NFL's WR wasteland for years: Hollywood Brown's 1008 yards in 2021 represents the only Ravens-drafted WR to eclipse 1000 yards (a couple did in the 90s, but they were drafted as the Browns). After getting roughly Robbie Anderson production from 1st round pick Brown, he demanded they trade him off the team. This was after prior 1st round WR busts Rashod Bateman and Breshad Perriman (amid other whiffs from 3rd-4th round picks). 1st round pick Zay Flowers does look really good so far, but it's not like he was shattering receiving records or anything. Then look at Baltimore's laundry list of FA WR letdowns if not outright busts in the years since Steve Smith retired: Nelson Agholor, Demarcus Robinson, Sammy Watkins, Willie Snead, Dez Bryant, John Brown, Seth Roberts, Michael Crabtree, Mike Wallace, Jeremy Maclin... these are the veteran WRs the Ravens have been adding year after year. Hardly giving the league compelling reasons to outbid them on their latest offer on an oft-injured has-been FA with such well documented personality issues. For all the Jets Follies we've witnessed over the years, and for all the knob-slobbering people do over the things the Ravens have gotten right, you'd think all this team's FO does is hit after hit. In reality, this isn't the franchise you'd typically outbid or push out of the way so you can get to the WRs they want. The facepalm WR moves the Jets made this offseason was plenty enough for me without violating Obi-Wan's point about who's the more foolish.

He would be the second best receiver on this team. Not even close. And he was way better than crappy Corey Davis too.
Bobby816
Absolutely shows how unaggressive JD was in pursuit of OBJ. That being said… OBJ fails to say in this interview that I’m sure the Jets offer was significantly less than what he got. And at the end of the day. We all knew OBJ wasn’t worth half the salary he was getting from BAL. BUT…. OBJ is known as a clutch player. So if he can come up big in the playoffs. Him signing for that amount was worth it.

Look at Green Bay. Somehow they’re able to find capable receivers and tight ends in the middle rounds .
rex-n-effect
Douglas didn't rush to offer him a lot more money just like thirty other teams. It's not like the Jets are the only team that could have used a WR. No other team rushed in to offer him the money BAL did. This is only a criticism of Douglas in hindsight based on the Jets season plus OBJ didn't get injured or create personality conflicts, and BAL has had an incredible year. There are fair arguments to make that BAL hasn't received anywhere close to the value they paid in that contract this year.

Ulrich
That’s damning. And another indication of this regime’s major incompetence. Arrogance can be fatal. For all their congeniality perhaps underneath it all Saleh and Joe D possess too much arrogance.
