NIGHT STALKER
Mantle is down in the books for having hit the longest HR...565 feet. He also came the closest to hitting a HR out of Yankee Stadium. Twice he hit the old facade and the last one was still on the rise and they estimated it would have traveled over 600 feet. If Mantle was taking the same crap Barry Roids is taking, I wonder what he could have accomplished...maybe the ball(s) would still be in orbit. Maxman
Hell I wonder what Mantle would have done on a full nights rest!
BP
The dude had tree trunks for forearms, he was just a natural genetic freak. Who knows what he would have done if he didn't shred his knee early in his career.
NIGHT STALKER
Well, my two all time favorite players back then were The Mick and the Splendid Splinter...one cut down by injuries and the latter gave years of his baseball prime to the military. And Teddy also volunteered to go to Korea after WWII. he didn't have to go if he didn't want to. he was a great American.
green_blood
If only Mantle drank a wee bit less, Barry might have had to hit 795.
NIGHT STALKER
If only Mantle drank a wee bit less, Barry might have had to hit 795. That drinking bit with Mantle is over done (thank you very much Billy Crystal). Watched an interview with Berra not long after Crystal's "61" had come out and Berra said that "Mantle didn't drink anymore than anyone else did in those days, we all partied." Now, after he retired, that's a different story.

anskyruben
If only Dimaggio didn't feel so threatened by him, and shred his knee up . Mantle was a true baseball player. Drank , ate and played hard. None of that bull**** fufu stuff we see today.

AFJF
Didn't Jeff Kent say Ruth was on 'roids? Yeah, he said that during an interview while he was washing his truck.
