Scott Dierking
Good deal for them potentially-they gave up Geary and Bourn. If he can come back to form Pretty good deal as they can move Myers back to teh rotation, probably. Lidge only has 1 year on his contract, so it is a short term thing. Thai Jet
Relief pitching is such a hot item right now I was surprised that Houston did this. Unless they figured they couldn't sign him long term.
uart
If Myers does well in his return to the rotation next year, this move will REALLY look good. The Phillies biggest need is pitching. The Phillies need to set their outfield and maybe look into 3B on the position-player side of the ball as well.

Scott Dierking
love this move for the phillies When Lidge was bad, he was very, very bad in Houston. He was flammable at times, it played with his head. The crowd goy on him at Houston, and it spiraled downhill from there. he pitched well in a set-up role, so you have to wonder if he has the 'head" to close. Philly may only axacerbate that experience. Time will tell, al always.

He averages a walk every other inning, as well he works behind batters.

Scott Dierking
good thing he can work on those issues pitching to weak NL East ball clubs You should watch a little more baseball. The NL Central was easiset the weakest division last year.
GimmeShelter
good thing he can work on those issues pitching to weak NL East ball clubs Know you're being sarcastic but in thinking about and considering the guys who are now FA's, the NL East probably has more offensive threats than the AL East. Good or at least different coaching could make this guy a perennial all star. Hopefully, the Philly fans will have him with his eyes rolled back in his head, twitching - and ready to come to Chicago for 09.
