"I think that will be a ton of excitement," Boston manager Terry Francona said before Monday's exhibition game against the New York Yankees. "I know he's honored."

Jon Lester will pitch the second game of the two-game series with the Athletics in Japan on March 26.

Clay Buchholz and Tim Wakefield will be on the hill for exhibition games in Japan prior to the regular-season contests.

Matsuzaka was scheduled to return to camp Monday after missing the previous two days following the birth of his son Saturday.

Oaklands closer to Japan than Boston. :P

Yeah, but the Red Sox have Okajima, and Matsuzaka on their roster, do the Athletics have any Japanese people on their roster? I don't think it's fair that they don't make it one Red Sox home game, and one Oakland home game though. Thats just everyone basically hating on the Yankees as usual, to help out the Red Sox.

How does playing in Japan help out the Red Sox? Remember when the Yanks went there a couple of years ago? Mussina was crying like a 9 year old girl with a skinned knee, and Giambi picked up a 'virus'.

The whole world is out to get the Yankees.

There is not a team in this league that deserves it as much as the Cry & Whine Sox... lol
