Jetkid94
wow! michael smith is talkign on espn,a nd todya is the deadline for him to come to camp, and if he doesent by rule he cannot play a down this season. He wants a new contract and will not play without it. The rams offered a contract to amke him the 4th highest paid RB in the league, and he rejected it. Looks like no Jackson this year so i hope noone waste a pick on him in fantasy lol.
GM
Not true. He can show up on the morning of the 1st game. there is no rule that says he has to participate in camp. However, there is a price to pay. Players under contract must report at least 30 days before the first regular-season game or they forfeit a season of NFL seniority. With the Rams opening the season Sept. 7 at Philadelphia, Jackson must report by Friday or risk losing a year toward unrestricted free agency. He had four years of seniority, which normally would be the minimum amount to test the market. But with the league's collective-bargaining agreement likely to be terminated, a little-known provision should that occur is that players would then need six years to become unrestricted free agents. In Jackson's case, that might not come until the 2011 season if he fails to report by Friday. The Rams also would control his rights - and, in essence, much of his contract terms. drago
he'll play. RB's don't walk out on their prime years in their career. Only Ali does that but that was for a little more bold of a reason than a paycheck.
Lurker
he'll play. The title is way off. He can be fined for not showing up, but you're totally wrong about there being a rule preventing him from playing.
Irish Jet
Can this thread have it's title changed? Or could it just be deleted?
Ghost
Jackson deserves a new contract but he's overrating himself a bit.
