NJ TRANSIT CHANGE OF SERVICE

Beginning Thursday, September 4, 2008

NJ TRANSIT will replace No. 351 Bus service with a new rail/bus shuttle service

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Event bus No. 351 from the Port Authority bus terminal in NYC will no longer operate for Meadowlands Sports Complex Events (Giants, Jets, Red Bulls and Nets games, concerts, family shows and special events).

Beginning Thursday, September 4, 2008 (Giants vs. Washington Redskins game) NJ TRANSIT will replace No. 351 Bus service with a new rail/bus shuttle service between Penn Station New York and the Meadowlands Sports Complex via Secaucus Junction Rail Station (arena and stadium events). With the launch of this new service, Bus No. 351 will no longer operate to the Meadowlands from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Here's how the new service works: Customers traveling to the Meadowlands for sporting events, concerts, family shows and other major events will board trains at Penn Station New York (PSNY) and transfer at Secaucus to waiting shuttle buses to the Meadowlands. Regular $10 roundtrip tickets will be sold at all PSNY ticket windows and ticket vending machines. For major events, dedicated ticket windows will be available at PSNY for your convenience.

No large bags, backpacks, duffel bags, computer bags, briefcases, coolers, video cameras, or umbrellas are permitted in Giants Stadium, and there is no claim check area to store any such items. Patrons will no longer be able to "check" these items at the gates and retrieve them after the game.

Enjoy the game!

And once again:

There is no parking until 5 hours before kickoff:

1pm game - 8am lots open

4pm game - 11am lots open

4:15pm game (New England 9/14) - 11:15am lots open

8pm game - 3pm lots open

Do not show up earlier or you will be asked to drive around unless you're lucky enough to put away in a dirt field.

For the 2008 season, only ticket holders with a Pre-Paid Parking Permit will be allowed to park at the Meadowlands Sports Complex. With construction of our new stadium well underway, there are some changes for you to be aware of:

1) All parking lots will open five hours prior to game time.

2) Lots 5, 9 & 11 have a new configuration with a new road and new entrances added.

3) There is limited parking in Lots 13 & 17 as the result of the construction of the Giants Training Facility.

4) The front section of Lots 10 & 18 will be reserved for ticket holders with disabilities.

Change in Bag Policy

The second announcement involves a change to the Meadowlands bag policy. Clear Aramark bags containing just-purchased merchandise are permitted in the stadium. However, new for this season, the stadium will no longer hold patrons' bags that are not permitted in the stadium. Prohibited bags include large bags, backpacks and briefcases. Any prohibited items that are discovered during inspections at stadium entrances must either be returned to the owner's vehicle or discarded. The stadium will not provide a storage area for these items.

Guests arriving by mass transit must take particular caution not to bring any prohibited items, because no exceptions will be made.

In other words we want all your money flowing into the Jets coffers on game day.

I have never heard of that happening. The worst case as far as I know if longer lines for the bus, depending on how close to game time it is.

So am I now to assume that the only bags permitted in the stadium are Aramark bags?
