Post Game Thoughts

Well said.

Especially because IIRC he rated Brian Brohm as the best QB in the 2008 draft.

That's different because the methodology agreed with him and still does. Brohm is basically just an outlier because he's at the very end of the set. Figure the Packers overdrafted him slightly based on post-Favre cold feet and he's right out of the system's range.

Pfft, details.

But you're correct; Andre Woodson (on whom teams could "be very confident using a late first-round pick") probably would have been a better example.

See, there he goes opining again. The system projects how quarterbacks drafted in the first two rounds will perform, it doesn't tell you where a guy should be drafted in the first place.

Right. The predictive power of the system is pretty remarkable, but it's a blunt instrument; essentially it just divides all upper-tier QB prospects into Guys Who Will Probably Suck and Guys Who Will Probably Be Pretty Good At The Very Least. That's not really useful when you're drawing up a draft board.

Everyone wants to be the next Mel Kiper. Why, I'll never know.

Blunt instruments come in handy sometimes.

Is it too late to slap a dome on the new stadium?

Doesn't count.
