Klecko73isGod
You are a funny guy. Baseball had been broadcast on cable FAR before Steinbrenner created YES What he did, was change the FINANCIAL way a team created revenue by creating his own broadcast medium. Helped the Yankees, yes (no pun intended). It did not transcend baseball. You are confusing things Can you read dude? He signed the first deal to broadcast his team on cable television, years before he became the first owner to start his own cable network. Both of which were groundbreaking moves which completely changed the way the product was delivered to the consumer. Arguing with you is like debating a martian with no short term memory and nonexistent reading comprehension.

TBS wasn't a cable channel when the Braves first appeared on it. It was a local UHF channel in Atlanta that Turner owned. WGN in Chicago was the original "superstation." PFSIKH
TBS wasn't a cable channel when the Braves first appeared on it. It was a local UHF channel in Atlanta that Turner owned. WGN in Chicago was the original "superstation." True, but Turner purchased the rights to the Braves before TBS was created. TBS or WTCG was founded in 1976. The Braves were a part of the original package. By the early 80s, they were part on cable nationally. Whether the Cubs beat them there to it does not matter, it is still 8 years before the Yankees. Scott Dierking
There is no doubt that Steinbrenner was an influential and savvy businessman as it relates to the economics of baseball. But that is not what gets you elected to the Hall of Fame. Not even as an owner. Thus, my Jerry Jones comment earlier in this thread-Being able to make money is not what a HOF career is about.
