Lil Bit Special
http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post?id=4681635 Wilfork airs it out at quarterback FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- In the event of an injury to Tom Brady, the Patriots have Brian Hoyer and Zac Robinson next on the depth chart. Is it time to add Vince Wilfork to the mix? In a light-hearted part of Patriots practice Monday morning, the 6-foot-2, 325-pound Wilfork led the “offense” in a 7-on-7 drill in the red zone. Wilfork had teammates Darius Butler, Patrick Chung, Brandon Meriweather, Jonathan Wilhite, Brandon McGowan and Terrence Wheatley – all natural defensive backs – as his offensive teammates. He was facing a “defense” that consisted of Aaron Hernandez, Sam Aiken, Wes Welker, Randy Moss, Rob Gronkowski, Laurence Maroney and Brandon Tate – all natural tight ends, receivers and running backs. Final score: Defense 3, Offense 1. Wilfork connected with Chung on the lone touchdown. But otherwise, it a day for the “defense”. What was at stake? “Pride. A lot of pride,” Welker said after practice. “A lot of trash talking. I’m sure we’ll take full advantage of it.” As the fun unfolded, the players on the sideline got into it. At one point, the “defense” subbed out Gronkowski, and Moss, in particular, was working hard to line up his fellow “defenders.” As for the scouting report on Wilfork, Welker said: “He really made some good reads out there, although he didn’t have a rush, so he sat back there for a good 10 seconds, trying to get rid of the ball. At the same time, he had a good delivery. It’s something we could work with.” Welker liked Wilfork’s athleticism, but joked that it was hard to tell whether he could help the team because he wasn’t facing pressure. “We’re going to get a stopwatch on how long he had to throw back there,” he cracked. I wonder if Francesa would get on Belichick for running a "summer camp", as he referred to Jets camp under Rex Ryan last week...
