Bravejamriot
I guess they could still snag him as an assistant head coach, but hopefully he doesn't want to go to oakland... serious who would?
JohnnyHector
I always thought it was a dick move to block a position coach from a shot at a promotion with another organization, but since it's the Raiders were talking about, I don't see a problem with this at all. Stonehands
It probably didn't hurt the decision process that Rob Ryan was already let go by Al Davis after doing nothing wrong.
Larz
I'm pretty sure they blocked it as a courtesy to DT so he didn't have to say no to an owner

A coach turning down an interview request is bad form, so Thurman probably asked the Jets to deny the request so he wouldn't be cast in a negative light. You have to imagine it is something like that. Rex just seems like the last guy in the world who would ever stop one of his guys from having the opportunity to get a promotion. Either Thurman isn't interested in making the jump yet or it's just a Raiders thing.
SenorGato
They wouldn't let the Jets talk to Rob Ryan for years. F*ck 'em.
#27TheDominator
They wouldn't let the Jets talk to Rob Ryan for years. F*ck 'em. True, but I think that was a lateral move, not a promotion.
