The defense hasn't been as good the last two years as it was in 2009, but that's inevitable because getting the league to throw at Revis a hundred times is unrepeatable. If and when Rex goes we probably just promote Pettine.

Give any good DC the best CB in football, and they will field a top Def. The jets Def leaks alot of oil. They do not resemble the 49ers Texans or Ravens in any way. IMO he is a fraud.

Yes, the best CB in football is the main reason the Jets have finished 7th, 2nd, and 4th in DVOA vs. the run during Rex's tenure.

If advanced metrics aren't your cup of tea, you could instead consider that the defense has finished 4th, 3rd, and 7th in rushing YPA against over the last 3 years.
