Barton
People have been too hard on this defense. I know tx will have somethin to say about this, but this defense isnt bad at all. If we had a good offense, even just a barely top 20 offense, we'd have a top 5 defense. It goes hand in hand. If offenses can sustain long drives and put points on the board, it gives the defense more options in coverage as well as keeping them more fresh. If we add a couple pieces back to this defense for next year, we'll be back again in the top 5.
Jack Straw
This defense needs more production from the linebackers. Eric Barton needs to come back healthy and regain his 2004 form and someone needs to light a fire under the ass of Victor Hobson. Mark Brown is a good backup, but he's not the answer at Linebacker. afosomf
this ranking is a farce and is caused by teams going into 4th qtr with big leads and calling off the dogs Pats last night for example Car went into shell, cause they new game was over. Atlanta as well this D is lucky to be in top
4HCrew
When was the last time this defense made a big play to win the game or a crucial stop on 3rd down? what was the excuse against KC? give me a break.... I think all of the coaches should refuse to speak to the media from here on out to avoid embarassing themselves
faba
This is a classic example of stats not giving a true picture- teams have been able to move and control the ball all season on this unit. The whole defense has underperformed this year except for Vilma-

Matt39
Statisically in 03 the defense wasn't "bad" either.

NJ
Statistically they might be above the middle of the pack - but on the field they're seldom more than a sieve. Brooksie could look good against them and have more time to throw. We have some young talent but I don't know how well it's getting cultivated for the future. Yeah it's Herm, but you have to point a finger at Henderson too - it's his frikin job.

If we had a good offense, even just a barely top 20 offense, we'd have a top 5 defense. Barton, please explain to me how a "good offense" will make the Jets defense top 5. That is a total bunch of crap. Does the offense tackle? Does the offense create 3 and outs? Does the offense cover? Instead of facing facts (the Jets defense sucks) you guys blow smoke and mirrors and justify the pathetic performance of the defense by saying the "offense sucks". The Jets defense would have a hard time stopping a Pop Warner offense.
