How much has Mike Maccagnan changed Jets' roster in 3 years?

By Conn-man Ruse | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

Mike Maccagnan took over as the Jets general manager in 2015. How much different does his team look this year, compared to that first season?

It's kind of a unique approach, isn't it? Normally when general managers take over a team in dire shape, they instantly rip it apart to begin their rebuild. Rid the squad of the players they don't prefer, and start bringing in their guys.

But Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan took a complete opposite approach.

Maccagnan was hired by the Jets after the 2014 season. But instead of starting his rebuild that year, he went out and signed several veterans on the tail end of their careers. It worked... sort of. The Jets won 10 games that season. The next year, believing they were close to the playoffs, Maccagnan brought most everyone back.

And you know how that turned out.

So now, heading into Year 3, Maccagnan is finally starting his rebuild. He gutted the roster this offseason, with wideout Eric Decker and linebacker David Harris his latest two victims.

But just how much different does the roster look from Maccagnan's first year, to now his third? Let's take a look.

Is the author's name really "Conn-man" or is this a screen name thing?

Google the article's title and the first result will give you the guy's real name. Believe me, the answer to your question is funnier than you can imagine.

It's no "Dick Cum-Mini," but it'll do in a pinch.

Thanks!

I also do Bar Mitzvahs!

Besides Leonard Williams Macagnan has whiffed on every draft choice his first two drafts.  All of the contracts he gave out sucked.  The qb's he's recruited are hot garbage.  But he did draft 2 Safeties in the first two rounds of this year's draft so he's a young Bill Polian now

The only place the Jets are better are at safety and tight end.  And while ASJ and Leggett are exciting, they're still dependent on a QB.
