QB Options for 2006

Brad Johnson wants out on Minny.

Id also take a look at the kid from Arizona. Word is they are keeping Warner.

Charlie Batch? Ehhh.

Brad Johnson wants a chance for a starting position and with Culpepper now negotiating a hefty contract, Vikes I think would be hard pressed to keep him. I think he's worth a look anyway.

Simms is going to want starter money which I think at this point the Jets cannot afford. I would like Schaub but I think he falls into that same category. Unfortunately I think the Jets are going to have to fall to the Kitnas of the world.

Depending on what Mangini wants to do with the offense, and what Marinelli wants to do... Joey Harrington might not be a bad option. He wouldn't have any bonuses, or any of that kind of stuff (I don't think). But... I don't think the Jets have the personel to run the type of offense Joey would be best in. Deep ball, vertical passing, and that.

And, the kid from Arizona is Josh McCown. He might not be a bad option, either. And, if they get someone like him... they can pass on Jay Cutler (a curse word to some), and draft a QB later. Maybe if they do get multiple seconds, draft Omar Jacobs. He wouldn't have to start right away, and he could become something special.

I would take:

Leinert

Schaub

Ramsey

B Johnson

Cutler

Simms

Of those choices I would be happy with Leinart @ 4.

Shaub for Abe or a 2nd rd pick

ramsey for a 3rd/4th rd pick

b johnson for 2M

I'm not singling you out Fo because many others have done this but when did Abe become worth a 2nd only and not a first? Did I miss something?

Lady Pennington, Fiedler, Bollinger, Kingsbury, and Clemson QB CHARLIE WHITEHURST should be in camp next year. We can grab Whitehurst in either the 3rd or 4th round. He has a body like Roethlisberger and a pretty good arm. He had horrible protection at Clemson up until his senior season so his numbers are pretty decent at best. He would be a smart pick up.

i am just being realistic. obviously a 1st would be great but the jets have very little leverage here. abe would cost $8M+ next year, or a long-term deal - every team in the nfl knows that. additionally, he is truly an injury prone pass rush specialist who is 1 drink away from a 4-game suspension. i think marshall faulk was traded for a 3rd rd pick - similar situation to abe.

Faulk was a 2 and a 5, and he had no value, since everyone knew that the Colts were taking a RB in the draft.

sounds about right for abe. everyone knows the jets can't afford to keep him.

If they franchise him. If they sign him long term, he'd be an easy fit.

One thing you never want to do, when you're trying to sell something, is to downgrade it's value. We want Abe to have high trade value, so we don't mention things like injury prone and suspension. Not that we can impact his trade value... but you have to raise your standards. A two and a five just dont' cut it. Not for a game changer.
