Popular Post Sonny Werblin
We hit on the most important player on the field. We already knew he was smart, a hard worker, football junkie, accurate and mobile. Yesterday with next to zero help from an O line that played like it was on the Panthers’ payroll, a non existent running game and WR corps that was allergic to getting open, the kid adjusted for the second half, after it was all too apparent that he had to do this on his own, and he balled. And not only that, he proved he is tough as nails. Screw his final numbers, even though they were pretty good, that was the finest performance of QB ability, leadership and toughness I’ve seen from a Jet QB in a long, long time. We’ve finally found our franchise QB. Now we just need to keep him from getting killed. 15
The Crusher
When the wide receivers did get open they also dropped the ball. Not helpful, hopefully better next week.

Barry McCockinner
Young team with a first time HC & OC taking their first live snaps in a new offensive system & blocking scheme and a new defensive system. The defense actually played better than I expected. O-line needs time to gel together in the new scheme. These guys are going to take their lumps this year and that's fine. It builds character.

I do believe the loss of Gregg Knapp was felt yesterday. He was the veteran seen it all, done it all coach on offense. There is no substitute for experience.
Claymation
The biggest issue was the pass protection scheme. There was no chipping by the RBs, no TE help and missed communication from the interior OL that allowed quite a few free rushers. In the 1st half, of Zach's 19 drop backs, he was pressured on 10 of them resulting in 3 sacks. And that wasn't because an OL got beat all the time, it was the OC didn't scheme properly. This is pretty much what Saleh said — that the protection failures were multifactorial.

Scheming wasn’t the reason mcgovern and Van Roten couldn’t handle twists. Although i do agree that outside blitzers were often given a free rush with a TE or RB running right by them without even a thought of chipping. They weren't being beat because of skill level.
joewilly12
The NY Jets had at most times yesterday 1 decent WR on the field, Berrios is a nice feel good story but not a #2-#3-#4 WR.
Icer
He looked the part, but now im really worried they are going to break him behind this Oline.

Honestly trade everything you have to playerwise (not pickwise necessarily) to get some competent Oline play in here.
Lurker89
The runs of the middle for .5 yards were giving me flashbacks to the dark times, or as we call them the times.
Jethead
Zach showed today that he has the right stuff. But he also played like a rookie at times. Bart Scott said the protection was there a few times if Zach had just trusted it and stepped up in the pocket vs bailing out. He really looked good in the 4th quarter. I liked what Saleh said about one score games and learning how to win. Would give my left nut to beat te Pats next week.
