Defense has and always be an integral part of any championship team Yes, but this as they say is not your father's environment. Back in the past even 10 years ago or more the defenses had more of an advantage until Goodell came in and made the priority scoring points. This crap with you can't hit a defenseless receiver. That is like saying a Boxer or UFC fighter can't punch you if you are not looking at them. Plus, the refs call holding on D continuously which didn't occur as frequently in the past. If you looked at all Rogers, Brady's, etc. TD drives almost every one of them has one or more penalties on D aiding the drives. You have to first have an O that can score enough to keep you contending or you will never get even near the playoffs in this league even with a top 5 D. Heck the Ravens, Bears, Colts, Fins, Browns, Broncos, Saints, etc. all have anywhere from above average to great defenses but could not make the playoffs either due to QBs hurt, QBs playing bad, or just bad offense in general. Your D cannot be counted on to score multiple TDs and safeties in most games, they mainly get your O good field position and try to limit the point total of the other teams O.
