Worst Special Teams in decades

Recommended Posts

Where have you gone Brad Smith, Leon Washington, Chad Morton, Santana Moss, Folk hero, Jason Myers, Ihedigbo, Eric Smith, more recently Justin Hardee?

This is the worst special teams I can remember…

Punt team stinks.  Moorstead punts too many into the end zone from midfield.  Either that or the coverage guys can’t get there fast enough to down it inside the 5.  Even when he punts it to the 10, the coverage allows a 13 yard return.

Punt return:  Gipson makes us nervous every time he is looking up at the ball.

Kick returns suck.  Isaiah Davis manages to set up drives to begin at the 22 when taking a knee gets you to the 30. In his defense, I’m sure the blocking is lousy.

FG’s:  Misses.  Blocks.  Just gross…

Even if the offense improves, defense gets healthier, etc.  A flawed team cannot win football games consistently with atrocious special teams.

Rant over…

The worst part is that our returners have proven to be zeroes, which is fine, but in a stupid attempt to "make something happen" the ST coach along with the HC decide to tell their returners to return kicks that travel into the endzone and virtually every time we lose yards and start from our own 20 or 25 instead of 30.

Not only do we lose yards, but we risk fumbles/injuries.

while people think they can turn it around based on paper and one of the easiest schedules they've seen in a long time they seem worse than last year, it's also possible they haven't hit bottom yet.   st, ol, dl, qb, coaching..all look like they're heading in the wrong direction.

winning the NE game it might not mean anything as TD fav on the road against what might be the worst team in the NFL

Meanwhile.. Codrington is having solid, but not spectacular season after being traded away.
