Scott Dierking
Dierk, White went directly into the USFL but I can't remember the team. When the USFL folded, they had a supplemental draft and White was selected by the Eagles. Thanks. He went to Memphis, as he went to school in Tennesee. Memphis Showboats , I think. Scott Dierking
Good stuff here on USFL supp draft: 1984 NFL Supplemental Draft of USFL and CFL Players In an attempt to head off a bidding war in its own ranks for USFL players, the National Football League held a draft of USFL and Canadian Football League players on June 5, 1984. NFL teams chose 84 players during the three-round selection meeting, 75 of them from the USFL and just eight from the CFL. The other player, Duan Hanks, was a free agent who had last participated in the Philadelphia Stars camp before being cut. The first 27 players selected all played in the USFL. NFL clubs tabbed 20 members of the Los Angeles Express including top pick Steve Young by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The only USFL team without a player selected was the San Antonio Gunslingers. Many of the other big name USFL players were ineligible for the draft because their rights were already owned by NFL clubs. NFL teams refused to pick USFL players from the same city; odd when you consider that neither the L. A. Rams or Raiders selected a member of the Express. 1. nj meadowlands
Wayne Crebet? Joe Andruzzi? C'mon. You have to include Chrebet. He's the ULTIMATE UFA. 55th on the NFL's alltime reception list, #2 in Jets history.
Maxman
Isn't that the new name of Brenda's Boat? Close. But it isn't the boat that has that name.
Jetsfan80
Antonio Gates, TE, Kent State, undrafted free agent signing by San Diego Chargers And soon to be added to that list: Jai Lewis, TE, George Mason, undrafted free agent signing by New York Giants. Gates was on the Sweet 16 Kent State Basketball squad as a power forward who dominated in the post, yet never played a down of football in college. He is now considered the most talented TE in the NFL, and will soon take over Tony Gonzalez's title as best TE in the NFL, period. Lewis was on the FINAL 4 George Mason basketball squad as a power forward who dominted in the post against players like Maurice Ager, Shannon Brown, Paul Davis, Tyler Hansbrough, Rudy Gay and Hilton Armstrong. Like Gates, Lewis never played a down of football in college (mostly because George Mason doesn't HAVE a football team, yet). See a trend here? Scott Dierking
My dad still tells me stories of Generals insanity It was a fun league. The Generals had Trum heading it and Herschel Walker and Doug Flutie. The Philly Stars were an awesome team. I have never liked any Philly team except for that one, as they had a lot of Penn State players on it, There was a lot of talent in that league and they had some decent innovations that the NFL somewhat adopted. Yes sir. Know all about their history. My dad was at some banquet that Trump was at one time a couple of years ago, and he got his attention with the line "Generals Live." Trump came over and had a conversation with him.
