Garb
what now????? he plays?? sits?? trade?? My guess? The possibilties are in this order: 1) He sits for 10 games and then the Pats will make him sit for the remaining 6. His income for 2006 could equal zero. Way to go, Deion!!! 2) He could fire his agent, throw him under the bus and come back to the team - the one he's under contract with - regardless of whether he thinks it's fair value. 3) Or, he can still get traded....to Seattle. Garb
why not the JETS ???? why you think Seattle? no one is gonna offer a #1 Although the Jets COULD struggle offensively - and give the Pats the better pick, it is still a division rival. Also, Seattle's window to win it all is now. They COULD be desperate at the receiver position. Just seems more plausible.

It'll still count towards the pension and he'll still make $400,000 +.

They suspended him and then when that was over didn't play him the rest of the year. I'm quite sure BB will have no problem putting Branch on the bench. Gainzo
Bench away, but he still gets paid. As a Jet fan, that's fine with me. He is only making a little over a $1 million this year. Take away the $14,000 a day in fines for missing training camp and it isn't that much of a hit to take. Bench him and then give me his agent's address so that I can go over there and kick his arse. For that reason alone the Pats would probably get a little more from Seattle than they would from the Jets, plus they wouldn't be giving him to a division rival. Branch would be very productive in Seattle. They have Pro Bowlers at QB and RB and run a very good offensive system. In New York, not so much. Then everything went haywire. I, like 99% of Pats fans, think his agent is being the prick.
Sharrow
The only reason the Pats might make the playoffs this year is cause they face us and the bills twice each. The dynasty is definitely over after this season, they have one more shot if they get lucky and have a run like Pittsburgh did last year.

His agent is just trying to get him what he's worth. You know, instead of the socialism as provided by the NFL rookie scale contracts.
Garb
BTW - the initial story is WRONG. The case has been postponed. Seems to me the League has steped in and is trying to make a deal happen: Arbitrator John Feerick of Fordham Law School has reserved judgment on a grievance filed by the NFL Players Association on behalf of Patriots hold-out wide receiver Deion Branch, NFLPA sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Thursday. Feerick said he would not rule until a second grievance is heard by a special master. Freerick had tentatively been scheduled to hear the grievance Saturday
PFSIKH
2) He could fire his agent, throw him under the bus and come back to the team - the one he's under contract with - regardless of whether he thinks it's fair value. He needs to do this no matter what the outcome of the arbitration meeting. sharrow Why? Let me be clear on this, the Patriots are not a perfect team. They do have a lack of depth and age issues at LBer, their wideouts are a work in progress and their DBs are good, not great, but good. However, the team is young. The offense is almost completely under 30. Dillon, Faulk and Brown are the only two over 30. The defense is not far behind. The entire DL is 27 and under. The defensive backs, with the notable exception of Harrison, are all under 30. From Boston.com: The breakdown: Quarterbacks -- 26.5. Running backs -- 27.8. Offensive line -- 26.6. Tight ends -- 25. Wide receivers -- 26.6. Defensive line -- 25.1. Linebackers -- 30. Defensive backs -- 26.7. Specialists -- 28.7 Dynasty over? Or retooling? I am pretty sure it is the latter. Whatever the definition is for being a dynasty, maybe that will not apply. However, the Patriots are designed to be good for a long time. Especially, with Belichick and Brady doing their respective magic. The 2000's Patriots are looking like the 1980/90's Niners. A good to great team every year. The Niners went 5 years between their second and third title. I am guessing. That is the time they replaced the aging vets that won them the first two titles. The bootmline is thius, the Patriots are not going anywhere. Maybe the Phins win the division this year and Carolina wins it all. However, come 2007 season, those numbers will be incremented or a new wave of draft picks will make the team. Either way, this team will still have a significant amount of talent and will be a contender for 10+ wins and a title.

PFSIKH
That's pretty funny. Hey PFSIKH, will you get the Pats game over there? Armed Forces Network does broadcast games. They try to show every team at least once. I was able to see the playoff games last year. With the times the game come on and duty schedule, it was tough to see any others. I will be home for their Sunday Night game against Denver. Jet Lag will probably kick my ass, but I will be ok I imagine.

I pretty much know I won't see much of the Jets-no playoff hopes, but I'm hoping to see plenty more of the Yanks. Didn't get the AFN box hooked up 'til after I got Stateside. You can probably see all the games. Some may be tape delayed. The Yanks will probably be one of the ones that comes on live. For the baseball playoffs, the week games should not be a problem. No direct competition, except for a few mid-week college games. The weekend is the big issue. However, like I said before, with multiple channels that is less an issue now. The only real issue is the time. The Patriots playoff games, both kicked off at the 8pm time. which is 4am Iraq time. Europe is 2 hours behind I think. So you are talking games starting at 2amish. Bottomline is you should be able to see it. Maybe even record it and watch later.

I'll get to start enjoying my AFN box sometime on Wednesday or Thursday, provided my flight back is better than my flight in. Italian TV was starting to make me a little nutty. All those naked ladies and I could hardly understand any of them.
