Tim Dwight--if he keeps getting hurt he's gone...otherwise he's affordable and can cause some mismatches in a 4 or 5 WR set

Justin McC--Pay cut or gone

Pete Kendall--Best run blocker and Mangini favorite, I think he stays

Adrion Jones--Mangini likes his versatility and he's not too pricey...I can see it though

Zack Hilton--Haven't seen enough of him to say and if he goes will we notice?

Sean Ryan--Too early IMO

BJ Askew--Agreed

James Hodgins--Has he even played yet? I think a couple of plays is a bit early to say

Blaylock--Absolutely...out of here

Bobby Hamilton--Probably gone unless he gets paid vet min.

DRob--yep..no spot for him on this team

Kimo--Depneds on how much he's been player/coacing in practice which we dont know

BT--Probably

Hobson--One of our few LBs with 3-4 size so I wouldn't be shocked if he stayed

Chatham--possibly

Kassell--possibly

Rashad Washington--wow..he's still on the team?

Barrett--If he can play some SS I say keep him on board..he hits like a LB

Cody Spencer--hard to say, haven't seen much of him

Ryan Riddle--see above

I agree with some of your picks SoFla but IMO you have A LOT of guys on there who just haven't had a chance to show what they can do. Predicting that a FB who signed last week will be gone is absoulutely possibel, but there has been no on field performance to determine if he's a fit here or not. Same goes for a lot of guys on that list. some guys will absolutely be gone with D-Rob being the biggest name to go IMO.

you didn't get the memo?

the big purge was last offseason

yes there will be turnover but it won't be wholesale changes

believe it or not this team is playing too well right now for a second set of wholesale changes just one year after the first set of wholesale changes.

even if Tangini agreed with the original poster and got rid of all of those names trust me when i say you aren't going to find replacements for all of them - and alot of those names would be scooped up by other teams in an instant.

I count 12 leftovers from the Herm era on that list-I think the purge continues and some of the other names Bit are JAG's that CAN be replaced

yeah replaced with other JAGS maybe

whats the point?

For the record many of these players you listed are either on one year deals or on the last year of their existing contracts - so there will be changes

but i don't see another huge set of changes

alot of those guys you listed just got here

maybe try and sign a big fat guy that can stop the run or a couple of LBers who ARE actually 3/4 backers-Mike T and Eric are not afraid to take chances and spend a little dough-draft a speed rusher-I'm sure you have your eyes on a few already Bit

i really like Quentin Moses and Lamarr woodley

but i'll be fair here's my "objective" breakdown of the Jets you listed

Tim Dwight - provides vet leadership and good PR - probably stays but will be challenged by youth.

Justin McC - Underrated by most fans - could get the boot but there is no WR alternative better on the roster. He's a #3 right now which is a good place for him.

Pete Kendall - may retire -if not he has a place here until he does

Adrian Jones - young swing tackle provides depth - probably will ride out his rookie contract b/c the tackle market is ridiculously bad

Zack Hilton - too soon to tell

Sean Ryan - actually turning in a very nice performance as H Back - i bet he stays for a while

BJ Askew - i think his rookie deal is done and i doubt he returns

James Hodgins - played last week, looked like crap - probably won't last the season

Blaylock - probably gone

Bobby Hamilton - similar to Kendall/Dwight situation - provides vet leadership on a very young team. Could retire. Will get challenged but has a spot in the coaches heart.

DRob - playing alot better than people are giving him credit for - will probably be asked to restructure - if he fails to do that will be traded - has too much value to just cut outright.

Kimo - has been living on rep and could get the boot

BT - end of rookie deal, unless he has a great 3/4 of a season isn't going to get re-signed.

Hobson - playing well sometimes, horrible others - might be out of position playing the outside in a 3-4. I think has another year on the contract, probably will hang around for that

Chatham - Mangini favorite going nowhere

Kassell - pretty good player probably has a job

Rashad Washington - agreed is hanging on to the roster spot by a thread

Barrett - as a #1 CB is very outmatched but as a #2 or #3 always seems to make key INT.

Cody Spencer - ST mascot led the Titans in ST tackles last year - had a very nice stop on coverage last week. Early but I think he's a keeper.

Ryan Riddle - too soon to tell - looks perfect for the BT role in the defense

speaking of big NT's...anybody know the deal with Gabe Watson? According to NFL.com he hasn't played a snap this season. Is he hurt or just not good enough to get on the field?

Who knows.

NT / Pass Rushing Specialist OLB must be concerns / priority's 1 & 2 this off-season. We need both... badly.

Unless the Jets find a willing trade partner (highly unlikely), DFat will remain a Jet player next year. One, because of the cap hit the Jets would take, and two, I think Mangini will not give up on him just after one season.

But I agree with your overall premise, the Mangini purge will continue during the off-season.

inactive every game which is not uncommon for young NT

Montavious Stanley was the other man mountain from last draft class - has been cut and since picked up but inactive every game

it's very tough to get instant impact NT from the draft - i think the last one was casey hampton - and he's an all pro
