Hello everyone this is my first post so go easy. After the trades this off season I felt it was necessary to go back and review past trades the jets current front office has done. I tried to look at most off the larger trades, but if any one wants to add others feel free (Leon washington, Brett Favre). And if there are any mistakes just correct me, im only human. * means the player is a pro bowler

2006

Trade 2nd Round Pick

Jets get…

-2007 2nd round 37th overall pick- Trade to Chicago for Thomas Jones

-2006 6th round 189th overall pick- Drew Coleman CB

Washington gets…

-2006 2nd round 35th overall pick- Rocky Macintosh LB

Analyses: One of the few times the jets have traded back in recent history and is one of the better, yet lesser known ones. By getting a future 2nd round pick the jets were able to do multiple things with it such as trade for thomas jones and get a later 2nd round pick which they used to grab everyones favorite David Harris

Nick Mangold Trade

Jets get…

Falcons 1st round 29th overall pick- Nick Mangold*

Falcons get…

John Abraham DE*

3rd round 79th overall pick- Jerious Norwood RB

2007 4th round 121st overall pick- Traded back to Denver for Marcus Thomas DT

Broncos get…

2006 1st round 15th overall pick- Traded to St. Louis who took Tye Hill CB

Analyses: The only three team trade and the jets obviously get the better end of this deal getting the leagues best Center

2007

Thomas Jones Trade

Jets get…

Thomas Jones RB

2nd round 63rd overall pick- Later traded for David Harris

Chicago gets…

2nd round 37th overall pick- Traded to Chargers who take Eric Weddle

Analyses: This is where that 2006 2nd round trade back comes in. The jets completely steal jones and a 2nd round pick from the bears. With all the recent great trades many have forgotten about this trade, but it has helped the jets become who they are today.

Darrelle Revis Trade

Jets get…

-1st round 14th overall pick- Darrelle Revis CB*

-6th round 191st pick- Trade to GB in David Harris deal

Panthers get…

- 1st round 25th overall pick- Jon Beason MLB*

- 2nd round 59th overall pick- Ryan Kalil C*

- 5th round 164th overall pick- Tim Shaw LB

Analyses: Self explanatory for the jets, but the panthers suprisingly get 2 pro bowlers out of the deal by getting a great MLB and center

David Harris Trade Jets get…

-2nd round 47th overall pick- David Harris

-7th round 235th overall pick- Chansi Stuckey (Later traded for Edwards)

Green Bay gets…

-2nd round 63rd overall pick- Brandon Jackson RB

-3rd round 89th overall pick- Aaron Rouse S

-6th round 191st overall pick- Korey Hall LB

Analyses: once again this is where that 2006 2nd round pick trade back help. The jets use that pick to get thomas jones and switch it for a 2nd later in the round which they used for the Hitman. Green bay otherwise gets a very productive runner who can become a pro bowler

2008

Kris Jenkins Trade

Jets get…

-Kris Jenkins NT*

Panthers get…

-3rd round 67th overall pick- Charles Godfrey CB

-5th round 141st overall pick- Gary Barnidge TE

Analyses: Self explanatory

Jonathan Vilma Trade

Jets get…

2008 4th round 113th overall pick- Traded to Packers in Keller Trade

2009 3rd round 76th overall pick- Traded to Detroit to select Shonn Greene

Saints get…

Jonathan Vilma MLB

2009 4th round 118th overall pick- Stanley Arnoux LB

Analyses: Another very interesting trade by the jets. Sure they got rid of a great LB that won the SB last season, but they use the picks, a third and 4th, to get two stars that have great potential

Dustin Keller Trade

Jets get…

-1st round 30th overall pick- Dustin Keller

Packers get…

-2nd round 36th overall pick- Jordy Nelson WR

-4th round 113nd overall pick- Later traded back to jets for Lowery

Analyses: using the Jonathan Vilma picks the Jets pick up a great pass catching TE with great potential

Dwight Lowery Trade

Jets move back and get…

4th round 113th overall pick- Dwight Lowery CB

5th round 162nd overall pick- Eric Ainge QB

Packers get…

4th round 102nd overall pick- Jeremy Thompson DE

Analyses: Only the second time in recent history the jets have traded back and u cant blame them. Lowery being only a 4th has been as good and bad as he came, plus we got a potentially great back up QB

2009

Lito Sheppard Trade

Jets get…

-Lito Sheppard CB

-2010 5th round 155th overall pick- Traded to Steelers for Santonio Holmes

Eagles get…

-2009 5th round 153rd overall pick- Cornelius Ingram

-2010 4th round 127th overall pick- Sent to Seahawks for Darryl Tapp DE

Analyses: Sure Lito sucked and had injury issues, but using the 5th round pick from the eagles the jets were able to get santonio holmes

Mark Sanchez Trade

Jets get…

-1st round 5th overall pick- Mark Sanchez QB

Browns get…

-1st round 17th overall pick- Traded away to tampa for josh Freeman

-2nd round 52nd overall pick- David Veikune DE

-Kenyon Coleman, Brett Ratliff, and Abram elam

Analyses: Self explanatory, get a future Franchise QB for chump change

Shonn Greene Trade

Jets get…

-3rd round 65th overall pick- Shonn Greene RB

Lions get…

-3rd round 76th overall pick- DeAndry Levy LB

-4th round 115th overall pick (acquired from the Pete Kendall trade)- Samie Lee Hill DT

-7th round 228th overall pick- Lydon Murtha OT

Analyses: Suprisingly that pete kendell trade/ disaster comes back to help the jets by giving them the ammunition necesary to get Greene.

Overview: with the up coming draft next week its always nice to look back at previous drafts to se what thet jets did and how it affected there future drafts. I found it very interesting that previous unkown trades such as the 2006 2nd round trade back and other trades considered bad such as the vilma trade have come back to greatly help the jets.

Slight problem. You missed something in the Nick Mangold trade. We also gave up John Abraham. Still a good deal, but that's a big piece to omit. I think in the 3-way trades like that you have to specify who gave up what, not just who got what.

Otherwise, very nice job.

Haha thanks for catching that, he was the biggest part of that trade. After looking at all these deals for a while i was bound to miss some stuff
