Chan Gailey loves a running QB like Quincy Carter when he was HC in Dallas...Newton is much better then Carter...Gailey wanted Tim Tebow last year but the Broncos swiped him up

If the new idea of a QB is one who can run and pass, Newton fits the bill.

Lets see what Newton runs in the 40. What makes Vick special is the 4.3 everyone said he could run in college.

T0mShane
The next time a mobile QB plays in--much less wins--a Super Bowl, let me know.
Bugg
The next time a mobile QB plays in--much less wins--a Super Bowl, let me know. Agruably Tarkenton, but he wasn't a runner by choice. Spare the 5 minutes Randall Cunningham was the greatest, and then the 2 minutes Donovan McNabb was until he became more of a drop back passer, Vick is pretty much it. And he didn't get very far. We'll see what happens this year.Bobby Douglas doesn't have any rings. TIhe idea has always been you do not want your QB taking the beating a running back does week after week. Guys like Manning and Brady find their third, fourth receiver because they have no other choice.
aec4
Not really. Joe Webb ran the same 40 time as Mike Vick. Which was 4.45, but the rumor around Vick was he could run a 4.3. We missed something else too... Joe Webb can't play QB. Vick showed he could in college.
Kleckineau
The next time a mobile QB plays in--much less wins--a Super Bowl, let me know. You must be too young to remember Steve Young. You know, the guy Vick passed in QB rush yds......
T0mShane
You must be too young to remember Steve Young. You know, the guy Vick passed in QB rush yds...... Young didn't win sh*t until he stopped running with the ball and started throwing it to his backs. Rice wanted to kill him for sabotaging so many third downs with his scrambles. Granted, he's probably the most mobile QB to win a title, but even then he did it with less than 300 yards on the year.

See your point. Young did tone it down as you point out but he was still a mobile QB. Same could be said for Elway I guess.
