Overview

Josh is a 205 graduate of Western Branch High School in the famous Tidewater football area of Virginia where he played tight end and linebacker and was a three-year standout and a second team All-State performer at tight end as a senior. He also earned second team all-region honors at tight end, first team All-Tidewater Area laurels at tight end, and first team all-district honors at both linebacker and tight end as a senior.

He enrolled at the U. of Delaware in 2005, but did not see any game action that Fall. In 2006, he backed up all-world TEs Ben Patrick and Robbie Agnone. He caught one pass for 0 yards that year.

In 2007, Josh moved up to #2 on the depth chart and played a key role as Delaware posted an 11-4 record and advanced to the NCAA Division FCS championship game. he grabbed 20 passes for 344 yards (17.2 avg.) and two touchdowns.

In 2008, Josh was not enrolled at Delaware while on a one-year suspension from UD for off-field conduct. In 2009, he tore knee ligaments in the first game of the season (ACL) and did not see any further action. He received a medical hardship and one-year of DII eligibility, and transferred to DII Powerhouse Northwest Missouri for his final year in 2010. Despite seeing limited snaps the first couple of games, and injuring an ankle in the team's 2nd-to-last playoff game, he still managed to ctach 66 balls for 838 yards and 9 TDs.

Strengths

Tough, versatile guy who has fought through a lot of adversity in his life, and has matured nicely as a result. Good hands. Precise routes for a 247-pounder. Will block, and is a solid blocker at this level. Has played with pro-style QBs in a pro-style offense (Flacco and Devlin) and has a very strong upper body and a nice vertical. Smart and well-spoken. Will work.

Weaknesses

Has a checkered resume and an injury history which must be evaluated. Not very tall, and his vertical may not be what it once was. Has never done well blocking NFL-caliber DEs (and he tried vs. Sidbury and Moats at UDel.) May be limited to move TE or H-back at the next level, and may never work out in line.

Projection

7th rounder or priority UDFA.
