As a coach, you can't go around guaranteeing backups and #2s...  What kind of competitive environment does that foster? 

Starters may have some leash, but backups got fight for that spot every day, every practice. that's how it is.

Exactly this is coach speak for Guys Do Your Jobs. You have 2 young men still learning what it means to prepare in the NFL and another who has had lapses in being prepared. One example being late for a team meeting using time change as an excuse.
