Integrity28
Okay, holding out some hope and shifting to a positive mindset here... post any and all clippings about the Jets trying out people to help fix the "cracks" here: From Rotoworld: Brandon Manumaleuna - TE The Jets will host free agent TE Brandon Manumaleuna for a visit on Tuesday. The blocking specialist will be among the Jets' Tuesday tryouts. Released by the Bears in late July after failing a physical, Manumaleuna generated scant interest in free agency. He could be a sixth offensive lineman in New York.
Larz
I called tanny, told him I can lay down and make a guy jump over me, which is better than ducasse is doing I think I might even get a call back
dbatesman
This doesn't fix any cracks. In fact it lends further credence to the idea that no one in charge of this team has any earthly idea what the **** they're doing. Manumaleuna was one of the worst players in football last season. Jetsfan80
I don't think there is one. That was kind of my point. I just don't think us making a relatively innocuous move to bring in a # 2 TE for a workout proves anything. Certainly you could have chosen other examples to show that the front office doesn't know what its doing.
SoFlaJets
They have to do SOMETHING. Matthew Mulligan has been a disaster in his role as the #1 blocking TE, add that to the fact that he can't catch the ball either...

It most certainly proves something when the #2 TE in question is a biscuit away from eating himself out of the league and couldn't hack it for a squad that pass-protects even worse than we do. The other examples consist of every decision that lead us to this point.
JiFtheOracle
This is weird. Why not Crumpler? Get a little info on the Pats, get a great inline blocker.

That's what I mean JiF, they don't seem like they want to try anything different, saying they have confidence in the guys we have on our roster now. At least on the defensive side of the ball they'll make moves but when it comes to the offense, very rarely are guys brought in for the "workout"

We dont know whats happening, I think its weird no Crumpler, but who knows what he's thinking, if the team has reached out, etc etc etc. I just dont get worked up about this type of stuff. If there's no clear solution, there's probably not a solution. The current starters need to step up. Other teams do it. Look at the Packers last year. Thats what needs to happen. Do you really think that just signing some bum not good enough to make another roster is going to solve the problems?

At least on the defensive side of the ball they'll make moves but when it comes to the offense, very rarely are guys brought in for the "workout" I think its very difficult to bring guys in for in season additions to the offense. On defense you can find a role for a guy like a Maybin that is essentially "seek and destroy". You dont need to know much anything when the coach simply says go get em. Most of the guys they brought in for a look on defense in the past are those already familiar with the scheme or DBs whose sole purpose is to blitz if they ever get in a game. Offense is different. The linemen work together. Just look at the miscommunication between a PB Left Tackle and a guy that has been here for two years when Ducasse was inserted. You can probably insert a WR on short notice, but that isnt the Jets problem. The time to make a move was a few weeks ago when Hunter got murdered by everyone with a star on the helmet. But the Jets were confident he could improve so they didnt bother.

Clearly you dont wave the white flag at 2-3, but I think you need to proceed with caution and save as much cap room as possible so they can carry it into next season. Right now they have an extra 8.5 million to spend. They have to replace BT so its probably around 8 million. That is alot of coin to have and a million here and there can sometimes be the difference between signing a player and losing out on a player. Apparently Tanny is testing the theory with all he's got. which isn't much.
