Outlining the assets of the "final four" Peyton suitors

So lets compile the list of football and non-football assets of the teams that will pitch hardest for Peyton. All teams have money to pay him so that is a non-factor. Draft picks are always unknown, so we'll go with what the teams have in their current state.

Jets:

  • A ground and pound dominant rushing attack (at least that will be the aim)
  • A top five defense
  • Tom Moore

Redskins:

  • Shanahan proven ability to win it all with a hall of fame quarterback
  • A ton of cap room to sign anyone who will fit (close to 50 million)
  • Fred Davis

Cardinals

  • Larry Fitzgerald
  • Wisenhunt's history and track record with Kurt Warner

Dolphins

  • Brandon Marshall
  • Jake Long

I think it's all the negatives that come along with this team that's going to cost us. I was rooting against the Colts the entire season hoping for this outcome, thinking we'd be the perfect fit and Manning could be a Jet. Then the season ended, cue the ******* circus and I realized his hall of fame career is based largely off his intelligence. He's not coming to this clown show

Jets:

  • A top five defense
  • Tom Moore
  • Will have free reign of passing-portion of offense
  • Would be open to signing Wayne, to pair with Holmes and Keller creating a dynamic passing attack
  • Best OL of the four options
  • Not a ton of $$$
  • Would have to share NY-spotlight with brother
  • Cold weather team

Redskins:

  • Shanahan proven ability to win it all with a hall of fame quarterback
  • A ton of cap room to sign anyone who will fit (close to 50 million)
  • Fred Davis
  • Would have to play against brother twice a year
  • Cold weather situation
  • Not a particularly well-built team on either side of the ball.

Cardinals

  • Larry Fitzgerald
  • Wisenhunt's history and track record with Kurt Warner
  • Weak division
  • Dome team
  • decent defense

Dolphins

  • Brandon Marshall
  • Jake Long
  • Owner has $$$
  • Will be open to signing Wayne
  • He owns a home in Florida
  • Davone Bess & Reggie Bush are nice tertiary threats
  • OL needs some work and might get him killed
  • They just brought in Philbin to run HIS offense

You forgot some stuff. I added the positives and negatives (well, my take anyway).

I thought the "circus" was centered on the current QB and his realtionship with certain WRs. I couldn't think of a better leader to bring into your lockerroom to tighten up the loose screws than Peyton Manning.

There are some more players in this than just the four listed. (Seattle, Houston, Dallas)

I think it comes down to motivation. Does he want to make more money, just play the game, or win some rings?

If it's money--Seattle, Redskins, Miami, Dallas

If it's play comfortably--Miami, Arizona (dome), Texans (dome), Dallas (dome)

If it's to win more rings than his little brother-- Jets, Texans, Dallas

Dallas? Come on. No way they ditch Romo.

No? Trade him for a first round pick. They can boost the OL and secondary before the second round, and will have Jerry's big catch of the off-season. Manning will sell jerseys and fill seats.

FWIW here are the current sportbook odds for where PMANN throws his first pass in 2012:

MIA +250

AZ +350

KC +550

WSH +600

NYJ +600

SEA +800

HOU +1000

doesn't play +1200

SF +1500

DEN +2000

TEN +2500

risk 100 to win 600 for the Jets and Skins? I'll be damned if that's not enticing...
