President Barack Obama not on board with Jets' trade for Tim Tebow

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Among those who have weighed in on the Jets' trade for Tim Tebow?

President Barack Obama.

Yes, that's right. While campaigning in Ohio, Obama called into 97.1 The Fan and was asked his take on the Jets' quarterback situation.

"I've got to tell you, I don’t like the idea of a quarterback controversy at the start of a season," Obama said. "So if I was a Jets fan, I'd be pretty nervous."

Tebow is the designated back-up to Mark Sanchez, but his widespread popularity following success at the University of Florida and in Denver have many outsiders questioning how the Jets will pull off this delicate balance. Obama shared those concerns.

"Sanchez is not Tom Brady yet, but he led them to the playoffs two years in a row," Obama said. "I think Tim Tebow seems to be a wonderful young man, and he's just got a great winning attitude. He really steps up when things count.

"But there's going to be a lot of tension in that situation, so it will be interesting to see how it plays itself out."
