Huge improvement over last year.

How old is Severino? What's the word/ scouting report on him?

Though he isn't especially big, Severino is strong, and he can run his fastball up to 98 mph. His heater usually sits at 94-95 mph and features some sink at the lower end of its velocity range. Both Severino's hard slider and his changeup have the potential to be solid or better offerings.

He's 21 years old and is the Yankees top prospect. The only question I keep hearing about him is his size. He's only 6 feet and 190 pounds.

I fell asleep with a 3-1 Yankee lead, wake up to see they lost. Hate that sh*t.

CC lost it in the 6th, made it a tie.  Girardi sent him out again in the 7th.   Joe has a blind spot for CC, just runs him out there too long, it's not 2009 anymore, CC isn't that guy.

Slade Heathcott is heading to the disabled list with what has been diagnosed as a Grade 2 quad strain. He will be reevaluated by Dr. Chris Ahmad, but expectation is that he will miss roughly a month.

Two more hits tonight, including a go-ahead home run, pushed Beltran’s batting average to .308 for the month of May. He’s had seven doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI in 24 games this month. He’s hit safely in 16 of his past 17 games, and he’s finally giving the Yankees legitimate production.

Chris Martin has been activated, but he’s also been optioned to Triple-A. Why not put him on the big league roster? “We want to get him back on a roll, then we’ll go from there,” Girardi said. “At the end (before the injury) it was a little bit of a struggle for him. We’ll see if we can get him back on a roll, and then if we need him, we’ll call him.”

6-9 looks very weak. Pirela gets his 2nd straight start at 2nd which is nice though.

• The grand slam was the ninth of Teixeira’s career. It was also his sixth career home run against Hernandez. Teixeira is a career .303 hitters with four doubles, 13 RBI and nine walks in 66 career at-bats against Hernandez.

When Masahiro Tanaka comes off the disabled list on Wednesday, it will be veteran Chris Capuano who’s taken out of the rotation and moved into the bullpen. Warren, who thrived as a reliever last season, will continue working as a starting pitcher.
