We might be looking at a clear loss for Cinci next week and potentially when we play them in the playoffs if the sprain is serious enough. Talk about a nice way to enter the play offs given we win ourselves. Check this.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron's injury suffered during Monday night's 20-17 loss to the Denver Broncos might be worse than initially thought

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that McCarron's left wrist sprain is significant. However, since it's on his non-throwing hand, he's intent on going. The Bengals will not be sure whether to start McCarron until later this week. Cincinnati's third quarterback is Keith Wenning, a second-year player out of Ball State, who has never taken a snap in the league.

McCarron suffered the injury on the final fatal play in Denver, falling hard and colliding with DeMarcus Ware after fumbling away a snap in overtime. Prior to the play, the second-year quarterback out of Alabama looked more than competent in the backup role completing 63 percent of his passes for 200 yards and one touchdown.

Filling in for the injured Andy Dalton -- who may be out until the divisional round of the postseason -- McCarron has proven to be the ideal backup quarterback for the Bengals, save for the late gaffe against the Broncos. He's cost-effective, ultra confident, takes command of the offense and manages the game while still pulling the trigger on aggressive downfield throws. However, if McCarron can't perform in the postseason -- whether he's healthy or not -- impatient Bengals fans won't be very forgiving.
