varjet
If you look at pictures, etc., Johnson appears too often at practice (on the field), on the sidelines, in the meetings, etc. He really needs to focus on politics and charities and stay out of the football operation. He should have a press conference where he tells the fans what his stated objective to his management team is, and then tell them to execute. The objective this year was to make the playoffs while trying to build for the future. That was clear. At the current moment in time it does not appear that that objective is going to be met, but they can't give up, until its time to give up. They need to keep trying to win games. But when they are out, future mode begins.

NO JW, if history tells us 1 thing about numb nuts it's that he never cuts ties all at once. His M.O. is first he'll probably fire the HC of the NYJ and then cuddle up to Mac while trying to convince us all that it was Bowel Movement's fault all along and Mac is doing a great job. Mac will supposedly have the say on who the new 1st time (and of course from the defensive side of the ball) head guy will be. Then in another 2 years it'll be time for a new GM at which point Woody will then be too busy focusing on the next presidential cycle and be too caught up playing a different kind of football and he'll have the league office pick his next GM. By which time another third of the fan base will no longer even give a crap about this debacle that we call the Jets and the rules will continue to change and pretty soon it'll be like flag football and soccer will become the next big thing in America

How about the sad fact that there's no county in the USA where Jets fans are the majority? There's literally no home turf for this franchise The fans are looking for the exits after anything goes wrong. People in KC and Seattle they have no place to go. They don't beat the traffic. They cheer just as wildly if the team up by 10 as they do down by 30. Meanwhile, the entire rest of the USA loves to see the Jets lose. This is bigger than even Woody. The Jets are the heel of the league. And then somehow, we are surprised every year when it's about as enjoyable as being beaten with a fire hose. Like who saw that coming? Only everyone. Jetscode1
9 hours ago, SAR I said: Consumers vote with their wallets and the product is not "poorly designed". All NFL franchises hit rock bottom before they reach for the stars, the Steelers, Patriots, Seahawks, Broncos, all the Super Bowl Champions have their down periods, it's part of the overall 'design' of the roster. The Jets keep treading water. Instead of rebuilding the right way with an actual plan, we just change head coaches, change the culture, and boom, win 10 games. Edwards after Groh, Mangini after Edwards, Ryan after Mangini, Bowles after Ryan. These so-called winning seasons after a head coaching change are the worst thing that happens to us. Because instead of committing to a real rebuild we get go-fever and add a few players and try to go for it all with a flawed, aging roster. I applaud Woody and Maccagnan for trying it the right way right now. It's the hard way. No one likes going 7-9 after 10-6. But believe it or not it's actually progress, we are not going after flashy free agents, we are trying to develop youth and do it patiently. Woody Johnson isn't a bad owner; you impatient people are bad fans. SAR I We are consumers of Jets football...who vote with dollars...those that remain anyway...unfortunately, the teams in recent years were poorly designed...not very entertaining to watch...if you want to argue that Woody now has a new five-year plan...fine...I hope it works... but to blame the fans for his previous lack of foresight is just another logical fallacy...nothing any fan has done contributed to the makeup or performance of his product on the field...the impatient argument...go tell it to a Browns fan...their patient loyalty must have caused their own misery. UnknownJetFan
Agree on the initial topic start. Revis at 17M this year who is playing around average for a starting CB and Fitz at 12M this year playing fairly well below average as a starter has 29M tied up in 2 players neither of which are impacting us in a good way and Fitz is impacting us in a very bad way. Imagine what that 29M could have done at other player positions for this team even with someone like Burris starting at CB and any of our other QBs starting. We probably would be much better in the short and long term.

bassmaster2
Woody is not the problem, it the GM who build the team and the coach that will not make any changes to better the team.
