Jets injury report: Five players returned to practice, including RB Eli McGuire (ankle) and CB Mo Claiborne (foot). They're hopeful that McGuire will be able to play; Claiborne is a safe bet to play. RB Matt Forte (knee) didn't practice and will be a game-time decision, but all signs point to him playing. NT Steve McLendon showed up on the report with a hip injury.

Saints' 15-point spread over Jets is highest in franchise history

The Saints have never been favored in a game like they're favored on Sunday against the Jets, but will that lofty spread be their undoing ?

If you go back far enough, just playing the Saints reminds one of one of the low points in Jets history, 12/14/80

Last game at Shea that year, cold and windy, Jets come in 3-11 and the "Aints" with one of the worst teams ever come in 0-14 and expected to go 0-16. Only about 38,000 or so show up, which unfortunately did not include the fat guy who usually sat next to me which would have helped the cold that day.

The game was a study in ineptitude. Todd had one of his worst games in his career and turned the ball over several times, yet the Jets managed to hold a lead for most of the game. In the 4th quarter they traded a TD's with the Saints ahead late by one point. The Jets drive after that at the end of the game was filled with football buffoonery and it started to snow. Then I heard something happened that I have never seen before or since, it was so bad that the 20,000 or so fans that were still there started laughing at the Jets on the field.

It's been along time but maybe some payback is called for here

Jets not only cover the huge spread, but win 21-20 ... and no I am not taking any bets on that

This game has all the makings of a serious blow out. An away game, Brees, bruising Saints RB's, Pettys debut, a shaky O-line, banged up RB's for the Jets. A defense that can be competitive or suck. Does anybody believe in miracles?

Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson won't make the trip to New Orleans, Todd Bowles announced. This is not injury-related, it's a coach's decision. This is the second time in three weeks that Wilkerson has been disciplined. Needless to say, his time in New York appears over.

Mo Wilkerson has embarrassed #JetsNFL_2017_NYJets_v2.png yet again. Bowles announced he won't travel w/team to New Orleans. Long history of tardiness/absences. As I wrote last week, he'll be gone soon enough. Stole Woody Johnson's money. Made fools out of everyone. What a joke. http://nydn.us/2ogtE9I

Saints WR Ted Ginn Jr. is questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Jets after practicing on a limited basis for the second straight day. Ginn said his ribs aren't cracked and that he expects to play. Guard Andrus Peat (groin) is also questionable. Although Peat practiced on a limited basis both Wednesday and Thursday, he did not practice Friday. LB A.J. Klein (groin) and DE Trey Hendrickson (ankle) have been ruled out. Everyone else is good to go, including RB Alvin Kamara, who has practiced fully all week.

The Saints signed veteran DE George Johnson, according to ESPN's Field Yates. He should add depth in the wake of rookie Trey Hendrickson's ankle injury, along with DT/DE Sheldon Rankins, DT David Onyemata and DE Hau'oli Kikaha, among other options. Johnson, 30, has appeared in 42 career games with five career starts for the Buccaneers, Vikings and Lions. The 6-4, 265-pounder has six career sacks and two forced fumbles. To make room, the Saints released on-again/off-again OT Bryce Harris.
