the best case scenario is Ickey dropping to 4 cause Neal went 1

If Hutch, Thibs and Ekwonu are gone in the first 3 I'll feel like the Jets are in a bit of no man's land.  There's nobody I love at 4 in that scenario.  BUT, another team might have interest in Neal.  Would it be enough for them to want to trade up?  Would the Jets discount the trade a bit in terms of the Draft Value Chart?  I know that I probably would.  It might not take more than a 2nd round pick in the late 30's for me to move down 4 or 5 spots in the 1st.  I'd find a guy at 8 or 9 that I'd likely end up taking at #4 anyway (Hamilton, Jermaine Johnson, Garrett Wilson, Drake London, Gardner, etc.)

After the first three I mentioned I just think there's about 8-10 guys that all have similar draft values to me.  Is Nakobe Dean a better LB than Drake London is a WR?  Is Garrett Wilson a better WR than Sauce Gardner is a CB or Devin Lloyd is a LB?  I know there are differences but they just don't seem as great as in years past.  It's basically a very flat Draft at the top IMO.

I mean, I heard one guy say that Elijah Moore in this year's Draft would be one of the first two or three WRs off the board.  And, that seems true.  He'd probably be a Top 15 pick this year.

read something that said the top 10 picks this year would be mostly mid-late rd1 in 2021 draft

in that scenario I'd take Neal and be fine with it. he's not a bad player in fact he had more ideal measurements than all the others - just like Ikey as a better fit

i don't believe the jets will draft another WR high, they need someone who knows how to catch and run routes (an FA vet) not someone who will take 2-3 years to learn how

The OL will be vastly better next year with an extended Fant, a healthy Becton, AVT in year 2 of the system and McGovern. Finding a FA or later round Guard in the draft should be the final piece...... not ANOTHER 1st round Draft Pick!

Perhaps even a player we already have on the roster!

While I agree. I believe you take the best player. If that guy is a versatile OT/G like Neal or Ekwonu. So be it. Its a critical position. Its not like taking a TE or safety or ILBs or even CBs when you are already stacked at that position.

Why? Because while the O-line SHOULD be better (with an extended Fant, a healthy Becton, AVT in year 2 of the system and McGovern), things don't always go that way. Injuries happen. A LOT. TO THE JETS. Becton is unproven. Fant has yet to be extended and coming off injury and McGovern should but maybe won't improve much at this point in his career (also going into his contract year).

Again, I'm not saying the Jets nec. SHOULD go after a big name FA guard or draft one early. I'm just saying they shouldn't be approaching the o-line assuming the 'final piece' is a cheap FA or late round draft pick. Just not smart. Either target someone in the draft and aggressive go after him (doesn't have to be Rd. 1). Or target someone in FA and go aggressive after him (doesn't have to be massive $$$). But that G spot needs to be filled with a legit starter and preferably an upgrade over LDT.
