124
Seahawks | Burleson signs offer sheet Fri, 24 Mar 2006 14:15:34 -0800 Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks have signed restricted free agent WR Nate Burleson (Vikngs) to an offer sheet. The Minnesota Vikings have seven days to match the offer. If they do not, the Vikings would receive Seattle's third-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Seahawks | Burleson offer sheet details Fri, 24 Mar 2006 15:35:55 -0800 Updating a previous report, Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks' offer sheet to Minnesota Vikings WR Nate Burleson is a seven-year, $49 million deal with $5.25 million guaranteed. The deal also includes two poison pills guaranteeing the entire $49 million if he plays a certain number of games in the state of Minnesota, or if his average-per-year exceeds the average of the highest-paid running back on the team. The pills are in direct retribution for the contract the Vikings used to sign former Seahawks OLG Steve Hutchinson Revenge factoring in here for Seattle with Minnesota? Same 7 years-$49 million that Hutchinson got.

R44
Excellent point Smiz....But Minnesota got a potential Hall of Fame guard for that price, while Seattle got a twiggy (skinny) receiver with decent upside potential.... Good news for the Hawks is only $5 million is guarenteed.....I'm not sure a viscious hit from our own free safety Maxman couldn't put Burleson out for a season

Any healthy WR with a pulse is going to help that offense out. Watching them force balls to Jeremy Stevens in the SB was brutal. Darrell Jackson is good when healthy but he can't be the entire passing game.
R44
You are correct..Joe Jurevicious ( sp???...I can't spell Lituanian names that well)....was their best WR and he's out....So they need any help...The draft class is said to be weak, according to the experts -- whoever they are?....and the unrestricted free agent class is depleted. By the way, I went back and re-read your post more carefully -- He gets $49 mill for "X" amount of games playing games in the state of Minnesota Expect the NFL to close this loophole soon.... The Troll
That is a hefty price to pay for a guy that has had one good season.
124
It's a great move by Seattle even if they're looking for revenge or not. 1. Jackson 2. Burleson 3. Engram Engram is now able to go back to his normal #3 slot WR role which will help him out.

Sperm Edwards
That is a hefty price to pay for a guy that has had one good season. I'll bet Bradway thinks it's a bargain. He gave more guaranteed (and good 2nd-round pick) for Justin McCariens, whose 1 so-so year in 2003 doesn't sniff at Burleson's 2004 season. And just slightly more for Pennington with almost 1 good season...

faba
Seattle certainly is overpaying for a receiver that is not really anything special- I can think of better ways to improve their team than this
Smizzy
Seahawks | Team attempted to trade for Burleson Sat, 25 Mar 2006 09:33:30 -0800 Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks offered the Minnesota Vikings a third-round draft choice in exchange for Vikings restricted free agent Nate Burleson. The Vikings demanded a second-round choice in return. Looks like it's not just revenge.
