And his draft report of a few years ago......

Alonzo Jackson

DE | (6-4, 266, 4.83) | FLORIDA STATE

By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Played in every game in 1999 and 2000 and started four games in 2000. Started 10 games in '01 but sat out vs. Miami (Fla.) and Virginia with a sprained left knee. All-Atlantic Coast Conference defensive end in '02, when he started 12 games. Posted 13 tackles in '99; 37 tackles with six tackles for loss and five sacks in 2000; and 33-8-5 in '01. Recorded 37 stops in '02 and led the 'Noles with 16 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.

Positives: Well-built player with a very large wingspan for his size. Speed edge rusher who uses his hands and arms well. Plays hard and hustles. Will chase all over the field. Really came on as a senior and showed very good pass-rush ability at times. Seemed stronger and did not get pushed past the quarterback as often, and at times would dip his shoulder and power through the block. Has a 37-inch vertical.

Negatives: Lacks size and size potential vs. the run and really struggles when he has to play over a big tackle. Needs to develop better counter moves as a pass rusher. Plays with a high motor but is not as mean and nasty as teams would like. Because of his lack of strength, he may begin his career as a third-down specialist while a team puts him up in the weight room.

Summary: Best bet will be as a 4-3 right defensive end who is split out wide or as a 3-4 rush outside linebacker. Good speed rusher with tweener's size, but his lack of adequate upper-body strength, which was extremely evident at the Combine, will cause his stock to drop.
