Niners place Jennings on I.R. list

The Niners placed veteran OT Jonas Jennings on injured reserve late Tuesday afternoon with a shoulder injury. Jennings, who started two games for the Niners before leaving the Seattle game Sept. 14 just prior to halftime, was replaced on the 53-man roster by second-year OT Jacob Bender, who was signed from New England's practice squad.

Jennings had been expected by many daily team observers to regain the starting ORT job that had been taken over by Barry Sims, but the Niners opted to move Adam Snyder over from left guard to replace Sims instead.

Additionally, the 49ers have replaced Jennings on the 53-man roster with second-year T Jacob Bender, who was signed from the New England practice squad. Bender (6-6, 315) was originally drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 2007 draft out of Nicholls State. He saw action in two games for the Jets as a rookie on special teams as a lineman in field goal formations and was inactive for 14 contests. Bender was waived by the Jets following training camp in 2008 and was then signed to the New England practice squad.

So?

He played 2 games for the Jets. We got rid of him. The Chowds had him on PS.

Wow. Great.

This is why you lose posting privileges. For dumb wasteful threads like this.

Bender was a draft choice of ours last year, so he is a player of interest to an extent.

But moreover, after Kendall left last year, the Jets promoted Bender as somebody they had high hopes for and several articles were written about him. So when you see him bouncing around like this, you have to laugh. Now we know how desperate the Jets front office really was last year.
