Wait aren't you the guy who said Tampa Bay would be in 2nd by now. Are you yawning or opening your mouth wide to eat crow?

When I said that, had Kazmir been traded and Pena lost for the season? Thank your stars those occurred, or they would be. Last night all the Sox accomplished was to aid the Yanks in securing home field advantage throughout. So thanks for that.

So?

When Kazmir was traded, the Sox had a 4.5 game lead on the Rays. Losing Kazmir (a whole three starts) and Pena, while hits, should not have doomed their season.

The Rays still had Pena when they lost 2 of 3 to Boston in their crib and were half way through their long losing streak.

You were wrong.

Sox win again.

Good thing the Sox didn't listen to MagicBizkit and give up on Clay Buchholz. He's really pitching well and figuring it out.

Oh you mean Mr. Negative ? I don't miss that putz at all. BTW the Red Sox are closer to the Yankees then they are to Texas. ;)

Sox Magic number for a playoff spot is at 3. It is possible that they will clinch a birth in Yankee Stadium. That would be interesting.

And for what it's worth, I am glad the Sox didn't give up on Buchholz and move him and others for Halladay. Some numbers:

Feats of Clay

Some quick perspective on the roll that Clay Buchholz is on after he allowed five hits in 6 2/3 shutout innings tonight in a 10-3 victory over the Royals:

-His ERA for the season is now 3.21, the lowest of any Red Sox starter.

-He is 4-0 with a 0.98 WHIP and a 1.38 ERA in this month, the fifth best September ERA in the major leagues.

-The Red Sox have won his last eight starts.

-He walked no one in a start for the first time this year and threw 109 pitches, the most he's thrown this season.

-He has allowed two earned runs in his last 28 2/3 innings.

-Of the last 146 batters he's faced over 41 innings, only one has hit a home run.

-His groundball percentage is 67.2, sixth in the American League among pitchers with at least 75 innings.

Wow

Spin Cycle feeling good after eeking out a split with The RoyAAAAAAls

Don't you need to goto the Skanks thread and debate will CC improve on his career 7.92 ERA? Will AJ ever be more then the career .500 pitcher? What is he going to do in the playoffs? Does Andy have anything? Joba?

Just sayin'.
