vanDoug
It's funny how many other styles of music were influenced by disco. Beethoven's 9th was recorded with a dance beat, references to Mozart were made elsewhere, even Yes (when Anderson and Wakeman left) had a guy in the band that had some disco success. Though it was probably fun for some, please tell me that era's over, OK? Or did Techno replace it later on? d

T-Mac
Well I tried the hustle with my girl at the prom, but I liked the earlier stuff better. Bee Gees - New York Mining Disaster 1941 Lyrics In the event of something happening to me, there is something I would like you all to see. It's just a photograph of someone that I knew. Have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones? Do you know what it's like on the outside? Don't go talking too loud, you'll cause a landslide, Mr. Jones. I keep straining my ears to hear a sound. Maybe someone is digging underground, or have they given up and all gone home to bed, thinking those who once existed must be dead. Have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones? Do you know what it's like on the outside? Don't go talking too loud, you'll cause a landslide, Mr. Jones. In the event of something happening to me, there is something I would like you all to see. Gainzo
Let's go old school Bee Gees. Kinda weird that I'm an Aussie like the Bee Gees, but I live in Massachusetts................ Feel I'm goin' back to Massachusetts, Something's telling me I must go home. And the lights all went out in Massachusetts The day I left her standing on her own. Tried to hitch a ride to San Francisco, Gotta do the things I wanna do. And the lights all went out in Massachusetts They brought me back to see my way with you. Talk about the life in Massachusetts, Speak about the people I have seen, And the lights all went out in Massachusetts And Massachusetts is one place I have seen. I will remember Massachusetts... Bugg
Saturday Night Fever is simply a great album. Once saw a huge bar fight in Brooklyn with what seemed like hundreds of Bud bottles going airborne while White Lines was playing. And saw the Clash make the mistake of having DJ Mel E Mel open for them at The Pier on the West Side. "If you want to see the Clash , Say HHHHOOO!" Whereupon abot 8000 white drunks starting winging everything they could get their hands on toward the stage screaming "EFFF YOOOOUUUU!" and worse until they hit the lights and gave him the hook for his own safety. Disco pretty much sucks, by the way.
Thor99
Screw the Bee Gees... I saw the man, the myth, the legend last night. That's right, Neil Diamond. The man puts on one hell of a show.

I love that song too. As far as old Bee Gees, "Words" "To Love Somebody" and "I've just gotta get a message to you", would be in my favs. One more, "I started a joke". Thor99
Mel E Mel was a great MC. I would have enjoyed that show. Does anyone remember The Cult opening for Metallica at Jones Beach? I love The Cult, but the idiot Metallica fans were throwing crap at them and booed them off the stage after about 3 songs. I was pissed.
Green DNA
I saw YES at the old Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City about 20 years ago. The Poussett Dart Band opened for them and got abused. The final straw was when a full beer can crashed through one of the extra guitars sitting on a stand. The band packed up and took off. I actually felt sorry for them. Panzer Division Marduk
I remember going to gigs where scumbags thought it was fun to spit on bands throughout their entire set. Anthrax had a whole tour ruined with it. And disco is, and always has been fucking sh*te!

As far as old Bee Gees, "Words" "To Love Somebody" and "I've just gotta get a message to you", would be in my favs. One more, "I started a joke". It's just such a powerful tune. From the opening note that is compressed and stretched; the verse, the chorus, that awesome bridge, the buildup back into the chorus- Stop. Check please. Incredible song. Tell you what, with the Devils coming in that downtown area might be worth an investment. And WTF does that(?) have to do w/ Communipaw Ave? Ah yes, Roosevelt Stadium. You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for the place to go Where they play the right music, getting in the swing You come in to look for a king Anybody could be that guy Night is young and the music
