In that case, they have also had their career worst years under Ryan.

What exactly are you saying???????

Is it this hard for you to keep up?

And btw - Greene has got better and better under Ryan.  I'm sure the same would have been said for Keller if not for the injury.

Also, if they let Keller, Landry, etc walk, I think that'll pretty much put an end to the debate over whether or not Idzik gives a sh*t about keeping Rex employed beyond 2013.

Not really. Keller = depends on whether Rex likes him/Morningwood wants him. Landry = there are so many safety options out there this cycle. Frankly, he is replaceable.

In reality, it's totally the GM's job. This board is just brainstorming sh*t that will need to be said if/when he is actually fired to cover up the real reasons the Jets will be doing it - nonsense like "wrong place at the wrong time" and "sometimes coaches just get blamed for things that aren't their fault." Oh, and don't forget derpa herpa culture change.

This is not the way any team should ever think.  GMs and Coaches need to communicate, need to work together, have a plan. One might argue for one player and the other might argue for another, at some point it's a team effort.  GMs, scouts, coaches, etc.   To say Rex Ryan never had anything to do with building the Jets makes no sense.

Andy Reid went to Kansas City as the Head Coach and had a big part in bringing in Alex Smith. Dorsey was probably a big part of the equation as well, but it's a team effort.   Bad teams don't communicate.    Giving Rex a pass for players on the Jets either makes Rex look like one of the dumbest NFL coaches or it's just something people like to assume because it's easier to say Tanny sucked and is fired.

Sure he did...Bart Scott..Jim Leonhard...those were guys brought immediately to the Jets when he left the Ravens. That he had significant say in offensive personnel to the point he overrode the GM? Nope. Acquiring players is the GM's job, coaching is Rex's job, they are completely different duties, and the one who can be directly blamed for the talent problem on the roster is gone.

Andy Reid brings in a QB on his arrival. Rex Ryan brings in a LBer and a S upon arriving here. Seems like there's some kind of connection? If the GM of a football team is leaning that heavily on his HC for advice in the draft, not even in that coach's area of expertise, then there's a massive problem.

It is very easy to say Tannenbaum sucked and was fired. He really was fired for one, and he was the guy with the responsibility of putting together the roster. Ryan is on the hot seat because his team lost, not because he did not do Tannenbaum's job for him. There's no question about that.

Eh. it's still a huge task to replace 7 starters (8 if Revis is trades), and expect to win right away. Even if you replace them via hitting on all your draft picks and low-level free agents, Rex would have to be Coach of the Year to win with all that change.

Keller aint a starter...he was here but any where else he is a decent backup....so is greene. Landry is the only guy id be willing to pay maybe also Moore to try and keep continuity at the OLine...
