Less than a week from the start of training camp, the Jets are still looking to upgrade at the wide receiver position.

Without a firm return date for No. 1 option Santonio Holmes, the Jets are working out former Falcons, Rams, Chargers, Cowboys and Jaguars wide receiver Laurent Robinson, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

The person requested anonymity because the Jets do not make visits public.

Robinson had a breakout season during his only year in Dallas (2011), logging 54 receptions for 858 yards. His 11 touchdowns led the Cowboys receivers that season.

That led to a five-year, $32.5 million contract from the Jaguars in 2012. He was cut after having issues with concussions and has since filed a grievance with the team and claimed that he wasn't ready to be cleared when the team gave him the green light to play.

If Robinson is healthy, the Jets could certainly use Robinson's play-making abilities in their lineup.

WOW

Think this guy had 4 or 5 concussions last year.  Braylon must have really pissed Idzik off in Seattle

Yeah, he clearly was not particularly liked out there, which is why I thought it was unlikely Idzik would be bringing Braylon back at any point.  Not to mention, Idzik is still probably hoping that somebody else will pick Braylon up off the scrap heap and help add to the Jets' comp pick stockpile.

Interesting the Jets are looking at these concussion guys.  Aren't the Jets part of the pilot program where league doctors check the medicals on their players?  Seems like an added failsafe for these guys.  Who knows how it will work in practice.  Collie and Robinson are both interesting guys.  They fit the Idzik mold.  Good potential, young and injured.  A bunch of teams had these guys in though.  I think everybody wants to know what they've got left and then decide after they look at their own guys a bit.

Jet fans love Braylon more than his mother does.
