Darrelle Revis

The fact the Jets mangled this from the beginning sucks. Our best player and we trade him for some Saban scrub. Irritating. Dude was all over the field Thursday and continues to get better.

It had to be said. Sperm can write a 10 paragraph post on why it was a good idea, but Revis on a one year deal at 16 mill + Richardson vs Dee and Richardson is a no brainer.

Please bump all those posts you had saying we should keep Revis and then draft another DT at #9.

That has zero to do with anything. Revis and Richardson is a way better team. We saved cap space...great. Revis is on a one year deal.

That makes your argument even worse.

Revis on a 1-year deal at $16M (on top of the $13M that hadn't yet hit the cap from past money paid to him) is not worth a good enough pick to net Sheldon Richardson.  Sorry, he isn't.

The argument is even weaker with Revis, on that 1-year deal, not even being 100%.  Hell, at the time the deal was made, he was barely running yet.

you can't put a winning team together if you have to pay one db 16 million. hell it's hard enough to do it when you are paying a qb that much money

No it doesnt. Youre on crack. We didnt trade Revis for Richardson . If we keep Revis we dont draft Milliner. Revis on the Jets today and we dont spot the Bengals 14 points. If Rex is staying we need him back. He was dominant on Thursday night, Not his fault Schiano/Sheridan plays zone.

Its a one year deal though...the Pats stink this year and by default are winning. Was a bad time to get rid of our best player.

Give it up man.  Mevi$ and the Jets agreeing on a contract that worked for the team and Mevi$' ego was an impossibility.  We drafted Richardson with Tampa's pick plus a 2014 pick, so how does that not equate to trading Mevi$ for Richardson + another guy to be determined?

The problem with this argument is the Jets knew they would not have to pay a QB that much money for the next 3-5 years minimum, Sanchez was gone next year no matter what, and Geno, or anyone the Jets draft in the future are at least 3 years away from making real QB money, and that only happens if they are a proven franchise QB, so you can justify paying Revis for 3 more years IMO!

Revis is not going to be cut by the Bucs this offseason, book it, and Woody Johnson would never even talk to the kid ever again he is a ego maniac, and selfish greedy SOB equal to that of D Revis, and didn't like the fact an NFL player wanted to make sure he got his before he got booted from the league like so many before him.

if revis plays, all that means is gresham and eifert go off

and that's why you don't pay a DB 16 million

simple

You always prefer a tight end over a WR going off. Neither of those guys are game breakers either. You force the ball to the tight end and the secondary is doing its job

One year contract isnt a QB deal. And with how average the Pats are this year, he's absolutely worth it.

$16 million is QB money.  And what has he been doing for Tampa?  How many wins would he have been worth for us, even if we could have somehow afforded him?

He's been awesome in man coverage in TB. He'd have locked up Green.

Rex's D has looked very different without Revis taking away half the field. I dont care how jackass Schiano is using him. Totally different first quarter with Revis in the secondary,
