Jim Harbaugh is a former NFL quarterback.

Add another name to the Jets' head coaching search.

The club secretly interviewed Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh, an NFL quarterback for 15 seasons, according to someone with knowledge of the situation. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak for the club.

On Thursday, when a Jets contingent flew to Arizona to interview Cardinals assistant head coach/offensive line coach Russ Grimm, it continued on to the Bay Area to visit with Harbaugh.
Sunday, Jets owner Woody Johnson and general manager Mike Tannenbaum will fly to Baltimore to interview Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, whose defense has been outstanding in the postseason.
Last week, there were reports that the Jets, as well as several other NFL teams, were interested in Harbaugh but he was negotiating an extension with the school.

Harbaugh, 45, has spent the past two seasons at Stanford, posting a 9-15 record. Prior to that, he was head coach at the University of San Diego, going 29-6 in three seasons. He also spent two seasons as an offensive assistant with the Oakland Raiders. His brother is Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

Jim Harbaugh, who played with the Bears, Colts, Ravens, Chargers and Panthers, was the seventh candidate interviewed by the Jets since the firing of Eric Mangini on Dec. 29. Ryan will be the eighth.

Thus far, the Jets have interviewed in-house candidates Brian Schottenheimer and Bill Callahan, Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, former Boston College head coach Jeff Jagodzinski, Grimm and Colts defensive coordinator Ron Meeks.

You're right, Rex always gets the most out of the talent he has. He's the prototypical overachiever. What was I thinking...

Harbaugh and Rex have won the same number of super bowls.  That team seems to be imploding and we are lining for the coach.  If anything screams SOJ, that is it.

Instead of Sammy Watkins, Kelvin Benjamin, Martavis Bryant or Odell Beckham we got bupkis.

Good call.  You see how all those kids are performing for their teams and it just pisses you off.  Cause why would you draft them when we had Nelson, Salas, and a bunch of scrubs?  It's the Jet way.

I am outraged that the Jets did not pick Watkins or Beckham!  Can you imagine?  Look at what they picked instead of those guys!

You hope that it's pissing off Woody watching all those kids we passed on.  That he reamed Idzik for that draft day disaster.  But you know Woody is just clueless.   All those kids were no brainers/can't miss.
