The idea that all the bad things can be washed away by a long haired handsome savior is a popular one in this world, very successful message over time

I'm skeptical about that too

And a mindless reply given how talented the kid is

But do talk about his hair like we're all morons who want him because of his hair.

No.  I don’t care.  That’s not what was being discussed.  Stop moving the goalposts because you invalidated your own argument.

The Colts went from 2-14 to 11-5 after drafting luck.  They f*cked up at surrounding him with talent because they hired an abhorrent GM AFTER tanking.  Their problems regarding Luck have absolutely nothing to do with what they did in 2011 to ensure that they got him.  If they hired Chris Ballard in 2012, Luck would still be in the NFL and lighting it up.

contra case they stripped the cabinets so bare in order to tank, they couldn't re-add resources fast enough to protect him

players in the NFL have an average career length of 3 years

a multi year rebuild doesn't make sense when most  guys only go 3 years

there is no rebuild it's all reloading

can they reload in 1 year? they can damn sure try but the damage done to the culture etc is worse than we want to admit

there is a difference between 7-9 and 0-16 believe it or not

Trevor Lawrence is extremely talented

and I'm saying no prospect is good enough to turn around 0-16

it's a hail mary not a way to build a program

The Colts didn’t strip sh*t.  Manning going down just showed how much he masked the issues that were already there.  That’s why Bill Polian was fired.  The only problem in the Colts/Luck saga is that Grigson wasn’t fired quickly enough.  They let him bomb draft after draft, and completely refuse to use the majority of his CAP space.  That’s it.  Nothing more, nothing less.  They had plenty of resources to support Luck.  Grigson was just absolutely awful at using them.

Get out of here with this culture nonsense.  It was ridiculous when you brought it up in your “pay Jamal” arguments, and it’s still ridiculous today.  Do you seriously think that anybody still on the Browns after the Hue Jackson debacle cares about going 1-31 from 2016-2018 right now??  No.  Never mind the fact that half of this roster is going to be replaced in the off-season.

The colts / Andrew luck situation suggests that no matter how good a qb prospect is coming out, a lack of infrastructure could ultimately ruin him

Exactly.  Driving home the point that a QB has to have help around him, no matter how talented.  But thats another topic of discussion and doesn't mean trying to fill the most important position in football shouldnt be a plan because the Colts didnt go all the way and finish the job.  Killing your argument against playing for Lawrence

The average player in the nfl lasts 3 seasons because so many players on the bottom of the roster only last 1 season in the nfl.
