PatsFanTX
And how is Nugent working out? Yea, the dumbass Jets wasted a 2nd round pick on a guy that is suppose to have a "cannon" leg. Into his 2nd season, he has yet to hit one 50+ yard FG. Hell, the guy can't even hit extra points and 30-yard FG's. What a friggn' bust.

Serious note, will BB use him in late game situation this week or skip him ala the Denver game? Nugent> Bethel Johnson.

I'll bet you after this week when The Noodle misses another attempt that Martin Gramatica will be the NE kicker next week...oh yea that's IF belichick even lines up for any FGs-which could be in doubt being that you'll be behind by 3 TDs before HT

PFSIKH
What 4th rd pick can't clear the line of scrimmage? It just shows the Jets are more committed to wasting draft picks then the Patriots. We waste our picks on TEs. At least they are on the field half the time. Seriously, I do not think G can be labeled with the noodely leg thing. If like Nugent he was labeled with a cannon leg and he was coming up short that would be one thing. His problem is he cannot get it up. Why Viagra has not tried to sign him to a sponsorship deal is beyond me? It would seem to be alot more effective then the dude throwing the ball through the tire. Alk
Nugent - 2nd. round pick - 2/4 FG 12/13 XP = 18 points. Gostkowski - 4th. round pick - 3/6 FG 11/11 XP = 20 points. And while we're talking about noodle legs, lets look at touchbacks. Before yesterday Gostkowski had 6 touchbacks, that's probably three times as many as Nugent has had in his entire career. Then lets tack on the two or three more that Gostkowski had yesterday.
raffyD
Unfortunately this is what I have seen thus far: Gostkowski hits the ball into the back of the endzone on kickoffs, Nugent sets the other team up on the 35-40 yard line. Time to try Graham on kickoffs or send Nugent to the weight room/karate whatever.
PatsFanTX
Nugent sets the other team up on the 35-40 yard line. Good call raffy. With a 2nd round kicker, you would expect better results.
raffyD
Good call raffy. With a 2nd round kicker, you would expect better results. I'm agreeing with you on this. His rookie year we all let it slide, let him gain some muscle/better mechanics in the offseason we said. This year I have not seen any improvement on the kickoffs from the Nuge, don't get me wrong I'm not calling him out just yet but for a day 1 drafted kicker he needs to be booming that ball through the uprights on kickoffs and not letting it land softly at the 15. Did anyone see how deflated Cincy was after the pats had just scored and Gostowski boomed it through the back of the endzone on the ensuing kickoff? It hurts, you just got scored on and, oh yeah, we're not even going to let you run the ball back to start your offensive possession. Sorry to nitpick but seeing the Colts start at the 40 with over 2 minutes left in the game was painful. Btw TX, congrats on stomping those Cincy Bengals. I guess they're not as good as everyone has them out to be.
GimmeShelter
Old FO drafted Nugent. This group never makes that pick. Send Bradway/Herm a e-mail if discussing Nugent still floats your boat.

You are a very astute football fan. Very few people would recognize how big that was in the game yesterday. That was huge not allowing a return. Then lets tack on the two or three more that Gostkowski had yesterday. ALK-That is hardly a basis to make a comparison. Gostkowski came up small in a somewhat pressure situation (game was tied, or close, I forget) and he missed. It was about 40 yards. Viniatieri nails that one. It will come down to how does Gostkowski show in pressure situations with games that can be won or put away. So far, he has not looked big in those situations. Time will tell. So far, he is not Viniatieri. But who is?

PatsFanTX
Time will tell. So far, he is not Viniatieri. But who is? There will never be another AV when it comes to clutch kicks. With that said, give me a kicker who can consistently kick into the end zone versus a kicker who gives teams starting position on the 40-yard line.
