Mel Gray passed Ron Smith to become the all-time NFL leader in kickoff return yards. Gray finished his career with 10,250 yards.

Anybody else see Devin Hester eventually shredding those numbers? Its all about staying healthy, lets see if he can.

My bad. Looks like the Jets' 2007 calendar lied. Then again, it didn't say Gray was still the all-time leader, I just assumed.

but the Jets never lie to us about anything.... they are always upfront and honest with us.:)

to answer your original question, do I think hester will beat that mark? No. He wont get enough touches. this year he is ranked #19 in # of kick returns. 14th in yards.

he is fast, he is valuable, but I dont think the Chicago defense will give up enough scoring drives to allow him to set the mark.

he needs to average about 1,000 yds a season for 14 years to break it. he should surpass 1,000 this year, but you need a long career to achieve 14,000.

But Ted Ginn Jr. might break the mark this season....

The Bears defense is not the problem with Hester's lack of touches. They've been giving up quite a bit of points. Teams have started pooch-kicking it every time, so Hester rarely gets a chance at a kick return.
