MTJ06
NFL Network's Mike Mayock reports that Oregon RB Jonathan Stewart may need surgery on his big toe. The procedure would keep him out four to six months. Stewart suffered a turf toe injury in November and didn't miss any games. He also ran the forty at the Combine, but performed no shuttle or cone drills. In the meantime, he had MRIs done and doctors recommended he undergo surgery. Individual teams will evaluate whether surgery is required. Expected to be a first-round pick, his stock will fall dramatically with any team who doesn't medically clear him. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/Home_NFL.aspx

Really a shame too, he's incredibly talented.
DieHardJetsFan
Its a shame that he got injured but I been saying the whole offseason that he's a little overrated
Irish Jet
I would definetly consider him if he fell to us in the 2nd.
MTJ06
I wonder if this will increase Darren McFadden's value and possibly the value of our pick.
DieHardJetsFan
I would definetly consider him if he fell to us in the 2nd. Drafting McFadden in round 1 and then Stewart in round 2 makes is insane
BroadwayJoe12
It depends upon the severity of the toe injury, becuase toe injuries can often be a career altering injury. He is a major talent, but he was never able to stay completely healthy in college. I love the guy and he's someone to keep an eye on should he fall to the top of the second, assuming we don't pick mcfadden; another guy that's injured we should keep our on eye is jack ikeagwanu (or however you spell it). Irish Jet
I would be elated with Stewart in the 4th round. Can't see the stock falling to that extent. It is a toe injury after all, it's not like he blew out his knee. Remember McGahee a few years back???? He may not fall too far at all.

Again though Bush broke his leg, this is a toe injury. It shouldn't have that big an impact for a guy this talented.

Yes, but both Bush and Pittman were expected to go somewhere in the late 2nd/early 3rd rounds. Nobody was picking either of them to go in the 1st round, and very few people had them on their lists in the early part of the 2nd round. The point is, its easier for someone to drop one or two rounds then it is to drop 4 rounds, especially when that player is top 5 at his position and was expected to go in round 1. Iceman88
To all those who thought he was being overrated I will be so happy to laugh in your faces when he blows up next season in the NFL. Also he played with this injury during the season and it did not affect his performance at all, he will not drop far and it isn't a big deal. If he does drop though the Jets picking him after the 1st round would be awesome.
MTJ06
NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Oregon RB Jonathan Stewart underwent surgery on his big toe Wednesday. He'll be out four to six months. If Stewart heals quickly, he'll have a chance to be ready before the start of training camp. Still, Stewart will miss all pre-camp work and his draft status will likely be affected severely. It's a somewhat similar situation to Adrian Peterson's in 2007, but Stewart's potential isn't on that level. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him fall to round two. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/Home_NFL.aspx
jetsman1
Again though Bush broke his leg, this is a toe injury. It shouldn't have that big an impact for a guy this talented. Coles has a turf toe injury that he suffered while in Washington and they told him if he has the surgery he may never play again.Turf toe injuries can end careers.Coles has never even been close to the same speed since he got hurt.He used to be able to flat out FLY!!!!He ran a 4.16 at Florida State and broke Deion Sanders record there. He's not anywhere near the same since the injury. This injury also ended Deion's career. Stewart ran a 4.45 at the combine with this injury. At his size thats already absurdly good. If he wasn't injured he would have ran in the 4.3s

It shouldn't, but it all depends on the type of injury. Turf toe and certain toe injuries tend to be quite chronic and usually end a players career early. However, the fact that he played the entire season through it and was very productive leads me to beleive it's not turf toe and just a normal procedure. He would be a steal anywhere out of the 1st round.

Yeah, and I will also be the first one to laugh in everyone face who is calling McFadden a bust after he takes the NFL by storm as a rookie (On whatever team) All TIME Leading Rusher for the Razorbacks 2 Time HEISMAN TROPHY Runner up #2 ALL TIME Leading rusher out of the SEC And he did all that in only 3 years while splitting carrys with Felix Jones.
