JETS WELCOME CARROLL

Posted by Mike Florio on July 22, 2008, 8:19 p.m. EDT

After spending the first part of the offseason signing guys who ended up being big on money, the New York Jets are closing out the offseason by inking a guy who is arguably light on character. And talent.

The Jets have announced the acquisition of defensive back Ahmad Carroll, a one-time first-round pick of the Packers.

He was the 25th overall selection in 2004, but was cut by Green Bay in 2006 after repeatedly being burned like bacon in a brick oven during a game against the Eagles.

Carroll landed in Jacksonville. The Jaguars released him in May 2007 after an arrest on gun and drug (Ecstasy) charges.

Out of football in 2007, Carroll played for the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League in 2008, starting in 15 of 16 games.

To make room on the roster, the Jets dumped rookie free agent Nate Lyles.

WOW this is against the Mangini choir boy like players need only apply rule.My only guess is he was good friends with Brett Favre his soon to be team mate.

you think Brett Favre, one of the most competitive guys in the NFL, would consider Ahmad Carroll, one of the worst Packers drafted in his tenure, a good friend?

umm, you may need a nap.

He definitely has the talent, but he's never come close to panning out. Lets see if Mangini, a Secondary man, can get it out of him, as SoFla said at the beginning of this thread. Good to see another non-choir boy brought in. You can't have too much or too little of either. Good to have a solid mix.
