crashingjet
9 in the box is all that is needed. If the Jets put 9 in the box on every play, Miami wins. Chad will check down every time and throw for five yards till we score. Putting 9 in the box works on 1st and 2nd down if you know the opponet is going to run, forcing a throw on 3rd. But, if the Jets put 9 in the box every down, Chad will adjust and pick apart a secondary that is being wasted on the rush. 9 in the box, in theory, sounds like a sound game plan, but, in the real world, to try and do that will come back to bite you in the end. If the Jets front 4 was good enough to pressure the QB then they wouldn't need to rush 9 guys, but I guess they aren't.

You press coverage the receivers and you walk your safeties down. You need to go OVER THE TOP the get a team out of crowding the box. Your QB is not capable. Putting 9 in the box doesn't mean you'd RUSH ALL 9. DUH. Noone would do that. You would put 9 up there to stop the run and the short passing game forcing the QB to win it with a mid+ passing game. Nice try on strategy though... dead wrong, but nice try.

First of all, putting 8 or 9 in the box does not mean you are going to rush everyone. The idea is to stack up against the run and to crowd the short zones to make throwing short passes more difficult. It challenges the QB to have the arm to throw downfield (which Chad doesn't) and the WRs to beat the opposing CBs in man-to-man (which the Phins have no real advantage here). Oh, and the Jets don't have a front four. They play a 3-4.

Your slot reciever, whoever that is now-a-days, will be more of a problem then Ginn If anyone knows Penningtons shortcomings its the Jets...if you really think he can throw deep on us, you haven't been paying attention the last few years. The entire point is even if Ted Ginn beats the man in coverage, 1) It'll be too late, and 2) We CHALLENGE your QB to make the throw... We don't feel he can. You just blew over the point that 9 in the box does NOT mean blitz 9. You rush 4 or 5, drop 1 safety deep in support, and crowd the box for the short zones and rushes.. like Maynard said,. Gone are the guys who could not play it (Vilma, DRob, Hobson) and they have been replaced by the guys who can (Harris, Jenkins, Pace). And who is this Ginn guy that you refer to like he is Paul Warfield? The guy who caught 34 passes for 420 yards and 2TDs last year? Yeah, he is fast. So was Lam Jones.
