SouthernJet
Source: Cubs to acquire Heilman Comment Email Print By Jerry Crasnick ESPN.com Archive The Chicago Cubs have acquired pitcher Aaron Heilman from the Seattle Mariners for infielder Ronny Cedeno and pitcher Garrett Olson, a baseball source told ESPN.com. Heilman and Olson have already been involved in trades this offseason. The Mariners acquired Heilman as part of a three-team, 12-player trade that sent closer J.J. Putz to the Mets in December. Heilman The Cubs picked up Olson in a deal from the Orioles for outfield prospect Felix Pie on Jan. 18. Cubs general manager Jim Hendry, who was returning from a trip to Italy on Wednesday, couldn't be reached for comment. But one baseball person said Hendry has been an admirer of Heilman's "since he pitched at Notre Dame.'' Olson had been mentioned as a potential trade chip if the Cubs decided to make another run at San Diego's Jake Peavy. The Cubs' deal with Seattle could put an end to speculation about the team trying to acquire Peavy.

The Troll
Of course, with Olsen going, this means that Jim Hendry has miraculously managed to turn top prospect Felix Pie into a guy that ends up getting traded for a ****ty middle reliever. Good job. Glad you got that extension, you son of a bitch.

Morrissey
I don't see him making the Cubbies rotation, back to the bullpen you go.

MagicBizkit87
This is the Mets were talking about here. Heilman is guaranteed to turn into the next great pitcher. Thats what Joe Beningo always says... lol

Good job. Glad you got that extension, you son of a bitch. We made out great with Pie Troll. At least they gave him very little rope to hang himself with up in the bigs and we didnt have to suffer through a couple of 175 K seasons with the bum. Unlike the misery we endured with the last "cant miss" centerfielder the farm system produced: Corey - Car Salesman (if he's got family in the biz) - Patterson. Intercourse Pie - he's a weak stick umbay. From what these guys are saying - Heilman bobs for apple too. His numbers look pretty good since they moved him to the pen except for last year but the distain seems pretty unanimous. Whats his deal Faba - control probs? His ratio's look great for 06/07. Thats what Joe Beningo always says... lol He's a decent releiver who can start sure...but we basically traded Pie and Olson for a middle reliever. I do think that he'll be a good pitcher for us though.

His luster had finally worn off after his major struggling at the major level, but I am tired of the Cubs doing this. When is the last time we traded anyone at their peak value? We wait until they have such little trade value that we must deal them for ****ty middle relievers that had +5 ERAs last year. And, based on his potential alone, Pie is still much more valuable than Heilman. Pie has had 260 at bats at the major league level and is still only 24. We got a **** return.
