REDMAN FAILS TO MAKE STEELERS ROSTER (6:03 p.m. ET)

Isaac Redman, a non-drafted rookie who was the surprise star of the Pittsburgh Steelers' training camp, was among 21 players cut Saturday.

Tight end Sean McHugh's season ended when he was placed on the injured reserve list because of a knee injury. He becomes the second player from last season's Super Bowl-winning team to go on injured reserve, joining right guard Darnell Stapleton, who had knee surgery early in training camp.

The Steelers, who open the season Thursday against Tennessee, made their cuts Friday but declined to reveal them until Saturday. Coach Mike Tomlin didn't want other NFL teams to learn of the moves a day before making their own cuts.

Also released were quarterback Mike Reilly, running backs Carey Davis and Justin Vincent, wide receivers Dallas Baker, Tyler Grisham and Brandon Williams, tight end Dezmond Sherrod, offensive linemen Jason Capizzi, Jeremy Parquet and A.Q. Shipley, defensive linemen Sonny Harris, Steve McLendon and Scott Paxson, linebackers Bruce Davis, Tom Korte, Andy Schantz and Donovan Woods, defensive backs Roy Lewis and Anthony Madison and kicker Piotr Czech.

I've admitted it PLENTY of times, when I'm actually wrong. Plenty of times. When I'm wrong I admit it. Erik Ainge is nothing but a career backup. Brian Brohm is nothing but a career backup. In the end, they're both garbage. So one got cut earlier than the other.

Hey buddy, ever wonder why the Jets put in a claim for Kevin O'Connell when they have the great Erik Ainge? Yeah, me too.

For the same reason the pats and jets seem to like to pick up each team's players, to pick their brains about the other's playbooks. I would imagine you could get some good info out of a qb.

Sonny Harris would make a good backup to Jenkins. Think the Steelers drafted him in the sixth round...

What do you think about your pats team keeping 5 rbs?

Some of you really need to get a grip.

Anyway, I think it's kind of strange that Gainzo, Garb, PR37, PKSIFH and other Pats fans on this site's Pats are keeping 5 Running Backs and 0 Fullbacks. Very strange. Then again, how often do the Patriots use the I-Formation?

lol at the guy who calls out people with a different opinion than him as retarded drug addicts.

Only when they're trying to tell me that Danny Woodhead is better than the guy whose 2nd to only LaDainian Tomlinson with rushing yards from 2005-present.

well, i never said anything like that just for the record. But opinions are like @ssholes.......

One thing though, CMart went from 1,700 yards to 700 yards to retired, and it was at TJ's age.

True. CMart also had much more wear and tear and we have more than enough insurance with Leon and Greene.

Greene, the rookie who has been injured this preseason? Yeah, that is great insurance.

As for the more wear and tear, If TJ was the player that CMart was then maybe you would have a point, but he isn't. It is a sad fact of life for RB's, once you get to this age it isn't a slow decline, it is a cliff that you just fall off of out of nowhere.
