Video shows Pats used wall, tried to trip Jets gunner

Posted by Mike Florio on January 16, 2011, 12:25 PM EST

Last month, the NFL fined the Jets $100,000 for forming a wall on a punt return, which resulted in the tripping of Dolphins gunner Nolan Carroll by Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi. Jets special-teams coordinator Mike Westhoff declared in the wake of the controversy that the Patriots do the same thing.

Now, Jay Glazer of FOX has gotten his hands on evidence to support that assertion.

Moments ago, Glazer showed video of a loose alignment of Patriots players along the white stripe during a Jets punt. Though they weren’t standing shoulder to shoulder and toe to toe like Sal Alosi and his North Jersey mob, six or seven Pats were up on the edge of the sideline, and one of them appears to try to trip the gunner.

Glazer said that the Jets became aware of the maneuver after signing a Patriots practice-squad player, who blew the whistle on his former team.

As Glazer points out, the Jets may have been able to reduce their own fine — and possibly to get the Pats in line for a fine — if they had known about this sooner. Whether the league takes action remains to be seen.

This is one of the many dirty things this scum**** franchise will stoop to. I wonder if we will ever find out the true extent...

I must have missed the memo where the Patriots forced the Jets to do it against Miami.

The difference is that the Jets are a clean franchise and fired the guy who did it the second it became public. The scum who run the pats encourage this. Also this is just the tip of the iceberg just like the videotaping. I hope at some point we find out that truth about their PERVASIVE cheating.

Dude shut the hell up with your insane homerism. The only reason the Jets fired anybody was because the announcer noticed it mid game and thats what made it get attention and become an issue. If that announcer said nothing nobody would have noticed and nobody would have been fired. Its one thing to hate our rivals its another to come off as a bitter ex when discussing anything about them.

This has nothing to do with homerism. The Jets are FAR from the only team that has been having games stolen for 10 years by that fraudulent franchise and their blatant cheating at every level of the game and when someone writes a tell all book at some point or someone spills the beans to 60 minuets it's going to be clear what the extent was. They are a blight on the competitive balance of the sport and everything they have "achieved" is illegitimate.

I really don't even know how I can respond to you when you say sh*t like this. Seriously?

Muhammad Ali was never really a legit heavweight champion of the world because on many occasions he would thumb his opponent in the eye and then punch the mother****er while his vision was impaired.

He was also known to hold onto an lean on his opponent, forcing him downward sapping his energy.

Cheating scum.

Quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever read.

Standing along the sideline: not illegal.

Having staff/inactive players standing along the sideline: illegal.

You'd think you'd know the importance of distinctions such as "filming in general, not illegal; filming from field level, illegal".
